Extending back garden onto unadopted road?

Hello all. I am wanting to extend my back garden onto the unadopted road that it borders. The unadopted road is more of an alleyway and the parts of the road that border my house are included in the title deeds. Would anybody be able to share their experience or expertise? Would I be allowed to do this and would I need…

Whether use or not, that alleyway allows vehicle access to the rear gardens - it is not unusual for people to build garages. I very much doubt that neighbours would agree - even if current residents ignore your (proposed) action, a future buyer of the other houses may be put off by a RoW that doesn't exist in reality. At that point, you can expect a headache.
