Boss not letting me work from home

people in this country seem to a sense of self entitlement. they will be asking for furlough to be extended beyond the covid crisis next so they can sit at home and earn 80% pay without having to get up early and go to work.Marvel1 said:Go in the office and be grateful you have a job.
where do people think all this money is coming from that is paying for all this? if you have a job and you are asked to go to the office or the factory to do your job, then do so. unless you can prove that the condition there is not safe, there is no grounds for refusal.1 -
My boss is and always has been thinly vailed, on subject. They cannot even work out how to do attachment of Earnings properly (I've lost all hope and have to tell myself I'll be out in less time to put it right myself) I put my life at risk on June 29th when commanded to go back to office because their was a new starter who they didn't want on their own, but it was ok to leave me day 3 to cover holiday in Feb to recall back thinking so that was the time I should have said nope holiday!. I'm past being let down by it though they sacked this person who lied through their interview about experience but got 4 months when others were let go at 6 weeks for having self respect, same old technicians with any old excuse, customers who say "I'm shielding girl with the rest of the country" as if to indicate you are just second or third class. I absolutely think supermarket workers deserve the praise and the clap this time. It's the only thing that helps, knowing that section of society and I can think of one other are possibly thinking oh my goodness how unfair at not knowing who travels to a workplace in, day out, who have to chose to work to receive an income or worse.0

100% agree about Supermarket workers, plenty of others as well that quietly carried on working without getting any recognition.
Should be a “Clap for ALL workers” imo1 -
exactly, so many people carried on working in the midst of the last lockdown when everyone was very worried about the virus. this time round, not many people are that scared of the virus, i certainly don't feel as scared of the virus as i did back in March. so i see no reason why someone would insist on staying at home and get paid when they are required to hop it into the office like other people who have no choice.ToxicWomble said:100% agree about Supermarket workers, plenty of others as well that quietly carried on working without getting any recognition.

One reason for people to work from home where possible is to make public transport safer, by reducing numbers of passengers, for those who have to be in the workplace e.g social care workers, school staff, supermarket staff, healthcare workers. There is also less risk of infection if you’re working from home and therefore less risk of you infecting others.AskAsk said:

Some people may feel ‘less scared of the virus’, but it’s still going strong and still killing people or leaving them with long term health complications . It therefore makes perfect sense for people to be working from home where possible. This is not ‘self entitlement’ it is work. It is also not without its own drawbacks in relation to the impact it can have and is having on employees’ mental health. It does, however, help to reduce the risk of infection for everyone.I appreciate there are many people who can’t work from home and I’m truly grateful to many of them for the services they’re providing and the additional risks they are facing. We shouldn’t be adding to these unnecessarily.2 -
Yes. But infection is spread in many other forms than people traveling to work. A lot of people drive to work and don't use public transport. It does of course help to stay at home where possible but if the employer needs you in the office when the majority is working from home then you have to go.thebrexitunicorn said:

Or how about a clap for nobody, given how everyone is pig sick of all this now? Luckily that is exactly what is happening anyway.ToxicWomble said:100% agree about Supermarket workers, plenty of others as well that quietly carried on working without getting any recognition.

There is a good reason why the sheep arent on their doorsteps clapping like seals this time around, and its got nothing to do with the weather.1 -
