Halifax phone scam!

4 weeks ago I was called by someone claiming to be from Halifax.. they told me someone was using my card and they had taken 3 lots of money, £400, £300 and £29.99.
She continued to say we needed to stop this so we need to move the money to another account so they can’t get anymore (sounds so obvious saying it now I know!).
She then asked which account had the most money (Savings) so she said to move the money from there and use my name and then use my mother’s maiden name (which she TOLD ME, and is also my memorable information) as the reference. Over all I moved around £3600.

I don’t really know where I stand because as soon as I got off the phone I called Halifax straight away and reported it as I knew it wasn’t right.
That was 4 weeks ago.. and I’ve heard nothing (they told me they’d be in touch in 15 days!)
I just want to know whether I’m getting my money back as I heard other people in the same situation have! And I believe that she knew bank information that she would only know if she’d breached my bank. Therefore it is a fault on my bank!

Your name and your mother's maiden name is information in the public domain.
What other security information did the caller have?0 -
Ahh okay, She knew I had 3 accounts! But I was just wondering should the bank be taking this long to respond?1

It’s way more likely your security got breached than the banks
one If the biggest sources is Facebook - all those silly “find you xyz” name things.
Most of the “questions” they ask are common security question answers.2 -

Did you find the number from a statement, or was it a number the scammer gave you?
Sometimes, the scammers have a way to stay on the line even when you hang up, so when you call back you get connected to the scammer again but speak with someone different.
It may be you have not reported to Halifax at all.1 -
Blaming Halifax for this is beyond ridiculous, by the way.

Yeah I definitely called Halifax because I got the fraud number off the website and they gave me a reference number for the scam etc.. Halifax have just been useless I keep getting passed from pillar to post, speaking to different people just wanted to know whether I would be getting my money back really!0

I’m not blaming Halifax at all, I just wanted to know what was happening and they said they’d get back to me in 15 days which was 4 weeks ago.0
-
When you called back, did you use the same phone that the scammers called you from?0
-
I used my moms phone to call Halifax0
