Hi i am looking for a 60gb ps3 for christmas. but i cant seem to find any good deals on it they're all on the 40gb. are there any good 60GB deals out there from reputable websites or even actual shops.

The 60GB PS3 was discontinued, only the 40GB and 20GB exist atm in this country if you are buying new.

Where'd you get that info? AFAIK, in the UK there are no plans atm to discontinue the 60 GB version and there is no 20GB version in the UK.

Edit: It seems that once all stock of 60GB models are exhausted (but they are still being sold at retail) then there will just be the 40GB model.

yes sony have discontinued the 60gb version, in favour for a 40gb version, god knows why as the 40gb version is not backward compatable, so you cant play your ps2 games on the 40gb version, apparantly something to do with cost, but then strangely they are going to make a 80gb version, which apparantly will be backwards compatable, but only a fraction of the ps2 games that would play on the 60gb version, will play on the 80gb version, seems sony have gone and got there knickers well and truly in a twist over the ps3, Dave.

Hence my edit. But there's no announcement of the 80GB making it to the UK as far as I know. The only ones in existence are NTSC.

apparantly sometime in the new year, it will make it to europe, but my main point was, why discontinue a model that was backwards compatable, in favour of one with smaller hard drive and not backward compatable, saying it was a costing issue, then decide to release an 8ogb version that is only partially backward compatable, surely if it was a costing issue, they would just have stuck to the 60gb version, rather than develop 2 differnt machines that wont even do what the first version did, just seems strange thats all, Dave.
