BP Services Fuel rip-off
I had to refuel at the BP services on the M3 at Winchester yesterday and was charged £1.339 per litre for unleaded fuel. This is an absolute disgrace and 15p per litre over the most expensive local pump price and 25p per litre over what I paid at the local Tesco later on yesterday. So please be aware... I am waiting to hear from BP regarding their feedback

You chose to re-fuel at a motorway service station. You could have filled up at the start of your journey. If you are taking an exceptionally long journey that you cannot complete with a tankful of fuel, then plan your fuelling stop in advance. Leave the motorway for 10 minutes and find a cheap fuel station.grahamac said:I had to refuel at the BP services on the M3 at Winchester yesterday and was charged £1.339 per litre for unleaded fuel. Motorway service stations have always charged high prices; and not just for fuel. This is not news.
You can't blame BP. Like any retailer, they will charge whatever the market will bear.11 -

Worth reading this which goes a small way to explain why they are more expensive.

I've noticed where I live they have MASSIVE signs outside the petrol station showing the prices. We can look at them and decide whether to get fuel from there, or not. Do they not have those where you live...3

Why did you have to refuel? A long journey? then fill up the local Tesco in advance and save some money.grahamac said:I had to refuel at the BP services on the M3 at Winchester yesterday and was charged £1.339 per litre for unleaded fuel. Motorway services are always a lot more expensive, no competition. Than local supermarkets who price war against each other.
Sorry op, but old news. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
In my town we have BP and Shell filling stations that operate a cartel, they always have exactly the same high price. I always fill up an Independent filling station 5 miles away always as cheap (and sometimes cheaper) than the supermarkets further away.0

There is a Tesco supermarket with a petrol station about 6 miles away so a small bit of planning (or not leaving it until you were desperate for fuel) would have save you money and grief.0
