Is it me, or do the markets seem just a teeny tiny bit irrational atm?
EDIT:  Just picked up on the vaccine news.

I only rebalanced towards the end of last week from the post-election rally and it's going crazy again on this vaccine news. While I am generally pleased (although it seems likely there will be a pull back from these new highs) it does make me uncomfortable with how much is accumulating in the kids Junior ISAs. I have already sold them down to cash a couple of times when the market looked too good to be true and my 4 year old has made an overall 45% gain so far from reinvesting on lows and reached the valuation that I wasn't expecting him to reach until he was 18.

I used the opportunity of this 'crazy' market to test out the 4 service providers on doing a dummy sell:
    1. AJ Bell - OK(ish) very slow but managed to execute a sale via website.  Mobile app, no joy, and when it did get in I had zero holdings  :'(
    2. Fidelity - Below OK.  Very slow to log in and then to obtain price (much slower than AJB)
    3. Jarvis X-O - Good.  Managed to log in ok and obtain a quote.  Speed fine
    4. iWeb - Ho Hum, not good.  Have been unable to log in
Whilst I appreciate that for all investors there really isn't an issue (unless you absolutely needed to sell) it is useful to remember that actioning a trade may not be as simple as what we have become used to.  The other thing I didn't experience (but have in my dim and distant past) is restrictions being placed on the size of orders (usually in a selling scenario).

I also tried the same 4 providers and Fidelity gave a login error, iWeb is too slow to login, AJ Bell was just a bit slow and Jarvis were fine. Is everyone else just logging in for the joy of seeing big numbers or are people trading?

A good rise in the FTSE100 so far today but still not nearly back to pre-Covid highs.

Obviously we are ignoring OIECs but, a lot of the stocks appear to have settled down a little, although the spreads on ETFs appear to remain significant.  Spreads on ITs 'seem' to have settled back to more of a normal situation.

I hold some IUMF (a little play thing really) and the spread is huge and remains so (780 / 840), usually it is one/two pennies.

I've just re-tried it and I managed to get in.  Excruciatingly slow though.  Worse than Fidelity (in my experiment).

I find that with Fidelity, today's gains won't be reflected until after 4.45pm tomorrow.

This afternoon might still reflect Friday's slight reductions!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.43% of current retirement "pot" (as at end September 2024)

Took the opportunity to top slice some individual holdings today. Jarvis was spot on, no delays.
Easy to spot busy trading days as the contract notes take far longer to be emailed.
