Just Eat Need Hire & Reward Insurance but its £££££

Hi,
My friend wants to work for just eat as he'll be put on furlough.
Just eat wants Hire & Reward insurance but this is an extra £600 a year on top of my friends insurance.
Is there a way around this, or a cheaper place to get it from?
Its his first year insurance driving.

That sounds quite cheap to me, especially as it's his first year driving. It's usually better to pay in a lump sum but if money is tight it might be more manageable to pay the £50 or so monthly.

If he doesn't take it out (or takes it out for proof, then cancels) and has an accident whilst working, his insurance will be void - and he'll be potentially personally liable for the costs involved - that's likely to be substantially more than £600.

Driving without insurance is also an offence.

Also, if stopped by the police when delivering, if he doesn't have this cover he will be treated as driving without insurance.  That's a minimum £300 fine and 6 points on his licence.  Let him try getting motor insurance after that and see what the cost is.  If he can't afford the insurance he must not take the job.

6 points on his licence in the first 2 years would also see him having it revoked (cancelled) by DVLA automatically.

Revocation means he'd have to redo his theory and practical from scratch too.
