Why pay main dealer prices for new tyres? Order online through black.circles.com or similar and choose a local fitter.
My main dealer (BMW) were actually the cheapest when I had to get a new pair last month.

    Blimey, that breaks the mould!

I had my rear tyres replaced earlier this year using etyres. If I’d let the dealer(Jag) replace them at it’s last service the exact same tyres would have been approx £80 more per tyre.

My daughter had her Volvo V40 serviced (main dealer) in Sept and they wanted £175 for each of her front tyres. TyresOnTheDrive did it for approx £120 per tyre.

However, the convenience of having the tyres fitted at the same time as a service can be worth the extra cost of course.

They're not as expensive as others like to think in my experience. Also last years insurance from BMW Finance was one of the lowest as well.

Only a main dealer has all the tools, equipment and specialist knowledge required to fit a tyre to your particular brand of vehicle. The general tyre fitter wouldn't have access to the software updates required for your new tyres.

Oh yes cars are full of computers these days. One of the reasons you must go to a main dealer for everything.

Yes, tyres have software? What drugs do you take?

That’s a really good point fred;...I was in Kwik Fit a while back and when I asked them to check the software in my tyres they looked at me like I had two heads. They’re totally clueless.

  • There was nothing stopping anyone getting their car serviced or MOT'd during the first lockdown, to be honest.

People have all these crazy ideas about why it's best to use a main dealer. Am I not allowed to join in?
  • Kwik fit cost me £54 and it's around the same from Ford. I needed the car and the tyre was completely flat so took it to Kwik Fit.
