What colour paint if you're thinking of moving

At first I was thinking about magnolia or white but I thought white would be boring but at least it would be easy to paint over. I may paint the bedrooms white and use magnolia or cream for the other rooms but would anyone know of a nice colour cream.RelievedSheff said:Anything toned down and muted. Creams, whites, subtle greys or browns if they match the rest of your furniture and belongings.
You want it to be as neutral as possible to appeal to as many people as possible but without it being stark or bland.0 -
It's such a personal choice, best thing to do is get a load of testers and see for yourself which your prefer.burtons said:

I'm telling you that nobody will notice that it's not white because even white looks a different colour on different walls.Certain greys make everything look drab and magnolia is too yellow for current tastes. Pebble Grey by Dulux Heritage is a lovely warm grey if that's what you want, Egyptian Cotton is lighter and still has a creamy tone. It's probably a happy halfway.Of course, pure brilliant white and magnolia are the cheapest paints...Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Magnolia on walls and white on ceilings, absolutely. New owners/tennants can easily live with it and it's a good base for applying other colours. There's a reason why magnolia/white is still so prevalent - like vanilla ice cream. (Yes, I know 'vanilla' has now become a label for something plain or boring but I like vanilla!).1

I've used Nutmeg White in my kitchen - it's a warm cream with no hint of yellow or grey. I tried dozens of off-whites and yellowy creams before I discovered it!

It would be Dulux. I've used similar "beige" colours before, I think my current walls are Egyptian Cotton or possibly Natural Hessian (also Dulux). Again it's a matter of personal taste and you won't really know what looks OK until you get some testers up on the walls.burtons said:

Pretty sure I'd notice that straight away, !Doozergirl said:Paint the ceiling in the same colour as it saves all the cutting in. I'm telling you that nobody will notice that it's not white because even white looks a different colour on different walls.
A white ceiling helps lighten the room2 -
My wife and I have this argument every time we paint a room.
I say white as ceilings and walls can be done together easily and its easy to touch up later without colour matching.
She says some weird shade of off white, apple, jasmine, ivory etc, and when she gets the testers they all come out as the same as the magnolia we are covering......
In my experience its white or its magnolia hiding under a trendy name.....
Yes white is clinical in an empty room, but once furniture, curtains, carpet, and pictures are in its not so bad.
