Tyres 215 vs 205

There should be a sticker, probably on the inside of the door pillar showing the recommended tyre sizes and their pressures. If 205/55 16s were already on then why would you order 215/55s, especially as 205/55 16s are on of the most common sizes and likely be cheaper.Deleted_User said:205 already on but that's not proof as they were fitted by previous owner who might have ran into same problem.1 -
Because they assumed the tyres size suggested after inputting their registration was accurate and they are not. They are completely wrong for my car with the rears being 20mm too narrow and wrong profile. Looks like they entered the data from the later model of my car.neilmcl said:

Staggered fitment front-to-rear suggests something like a RWD Merc or BMW, am I right?
In which case, there's usually a myriad of optional rim fitments, both as factory-fit and aftermarket. And that's before we consider the possibility that a previous owner simply fitted the wrong size.
So what does your tyre size/pressure sticker on the car actually say?
And, if you knew you wanted 215s, why would you accept the offer of the 205s they had in stock, rather than simply arranging a time for them to fit what you did order when it came into stock?

Focus and CMax has both 205 and 215 listed on the sticker so not a lot of help.neilmcl said:

Then either size is perfectly acceptable for those cars, and it's up to the owner to choose.molerat said:

Both sizes are on the sticker in the door. Not going to worry about it plus there seems to be more tyre choice and more favourable prices for the 205s. I only ordered the 215's as they were coming up as the recommended size on every tyre checker with my reg plate.
It's a 2014 MK3 Focus.
More concerned about the damage they have done to my wheels now. Avoid ATS!

Not sure what the ATS guy is doing here? Perhaps a celebratory dance after butchering my wheels?

I didn't say they weren't in stock. They were in stock as I had ordered them online. They didn't want to fit the 215's as they said they were the wrong size for the car.AdrianC said:Staggered fitment front-to-rear suggests something like a RWD Merc or BMW, am I right?

What did they say when you complained?Deleted_User said:Not sure what the ATS guy is doing here? Perhaps a celebratory dance after butchering my wheels?

Only noticed the damage this evening when I looked. I'll be going back up in the morning.Scrapit said:
