Plusnet Refusal to Replace Lost Sim
I've had a low price contract with Plusnet for a few years which was fine for my son.
Unfortunately he recently lost his phone, so I contacted Plusnet to stop the sim and request a replacement.
To my surprise they said they were happy to stop it but couldn't replace it and that I'd have to order a new sim with a new tariff.
They said the sim I had was 3G and that all their sims are now 4G and therefore I'd have to take out a new contract.
Frankly I feel this is a bit of a swizz to get me off the low tariff and onto a more expensive one.
Anyone else had such an experience?

Not uncommon and not the first time.Look around the market and see what else you can get.0

Phone company contracts (and PAYG) are a 2 way arrangement. You can give notice to quit, unfortunately so too can the network. The industry wants as many customers as they can convince on 24 month contracts. Low cost legacy contracts and PAYG are not providing enough revenue for them.
Look around for a new deal, preferably SIM only. Giff Gaff are a good starting point with their PAYG “Goody bags”.0 -
when my 3g sim had to be changed on sim only plan from plusnet , the cost went up a heck of a lot , the 3g contract was £6.00 , the 4g a frightening £6.50
sim only is the was yo go , giff gaff goody bags cost 2 - 3 times as much as a sim only from the likes of talkmobile , virgin etc0 -

GiffGaff is not usually that competitive for low value sim only.
Plusnet have 2.5GB for £6, 7GB for £8 and 9GB for £9 as their base offers.0 -
I still have the Life mobile Sim which was took over by Plusnet, i still have the same deal as i got from life mobile so i hope i do not loose my sim or loose my phone.
i don't use it a lot maybe thats why they have never put the price up on it.
