E.ON tariff query
I used to be with OVO energy but left them on 1st October and moved to E.ON
One reason I left OVO was because of their failure to get my smart meters working. They had gone 'dumb for around 3 months.
The WAN light was flashing every second which after googling it indicated that the link with OVO was lost.
E.ON have got my smart meters working again remotely as there was no need to send anyone round which is good news however my IHD is still showing OVO's tariffs both energy usage per kWh and daily standing charge for both gas and electric.
I rang E.ON up and they said that it takes time for the new tariffs to overwrite the old tariffs as E.ON are still in the process of taking over the smart meters.
Does anyone know how long this process takes ?
I have had my final bill from OVO and I was in credit and this has been credited to my bank account.
Finally both smart meters are second generation i.e. SMETS2

I'd give it a few weeks. The tariff data is usually only pushed when it changes as it costs the suppliers to distribute data to the IHD.If yours hasn't updated by the end of the month I'd chase them again. It does not affect your billing of course, just the costs you see on the IHD.1

Thanks for replying.
The tariffs are different with E.ON's being a little cheaper on everything.
I didn't know about the charges and as long as my billing is correct then I am not that worried.
I will however chase them up by the end of the month if it hasn't updated.0 -
Hi,why not just set up a wee spreadsheet, do a monthly update with meter readings and keep your eye on usage and cost.1

Hi MikeE67, hope you're well. I'm glad to hear your SMETS2 meters started working again when you switched over to us.
As mentioned, the price per unit shown on your IHD isn't what you'll actually be billed to. You'll be able to double check this on your online account if you view your tariff information, as well as on the tariff document that will have been sent when you were switching.
From an advisor point of view we have a way of sending a 'Price Update' to the meter(s) and IHD. This generally takes up to 24 hours and will ensure the prices shown are up to date. It's usually done automatically each month or when you change tariff but we have a way of requesting it be done manually. If this doesn't work then the details may need to be passed over to a specialist to be investigated further.
I expect it may start working within a month or so. If you don't notice the change by the end of this month please feel free to get in touch.

@MikeE67 Check your first bill from Eon carefully - look to see that the opening reading is what you gave them and that the other readings have A for actual against them. If there's an E - its possible the Smart SMETS2 isn't as smart as you want it to be.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

I don't have a laptop to do that not to mention the software ![Deleted User] said:Hi,why not just set up a wee spreadsheet, do a monthly update with meter readings and keep your eye on usage and cost.
I can monitor my energy usage on the IHD by week, month or year which is what I used to do before with OVO.
OVO used to have an app which was a good idea but rarely worked as there was more missing data than valid data so no great loss really.
As long as my smart meters are working that's all I care about !0 -
I will say that within a few days of moving to E.ON my smart meters were working.Hi MikeE67, hope you're well. I'm glad to hear your SMETS2 meters started working again when you switched over to us.

OVO only said they would fix the problem after I told them I was switching supplier but by then it was too late. It wasn't just me because I used to post on their forum and there were a lot of customers like me with dumb meters !
My first bill is due on 10th December and I am hoping the price update will be sorted by then !

Thanks. I will look out for an estimated bill (E) from E.ON but I don't foresee a problem as like I said in my first post, OVO have already sent me an online final bill and refunded my credit.Robin9 said:@MikeE67 Check your first bill from Eon carefully - look to see that the opening reading is what you gave them and that the other readings have A for actual against them. Just to be sure I will send them (E.ON) manual meter readings in a couple of weeks time.
The OVO credit was around £155 and I thought I would have to chase them up for it but there was no delay doing this.

I'd be careful how you sent your readings if they are a smart meter as they can cause issues with the smart data transfers.1

I didn't know that, cheersDeleted User said:I'd be careful how you sent your readings if they are a smart meter as they can cause issues with the smart data transfers.
I don't think I will give my meter readings after all.0
