A friend of mine is currently on UC (previously on JSA). She just received her 2nd UC payment in the bank and noticed that a total of £180.00 was deducted by the DWP.
Online it says that "As you received benefits you were not entitled to Jobseeker's Allowance"?? The other benefit she received is just Housing Benefit.
She is going to call the DWP tomorrow but wondering if anyone has got any ideas about this deduction made by DWP? Is this a mistake? Thank you!

You'd be better off in the Benefits section with this one but there is a discrepancy between being in receipt of UC and HB.
If they are not entitled to JSA then they are not entitled to HB as UC covers the housing cost through housing element.
There should be an explanation on the award or on the UC journal.
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

It should say what the deductions were for. Although if they were claiming New style JSA as well as UC then this will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.1

My friend just told she did receive the below message on UC few days ago:
"Some benefits can affect how much Universal Credit you receive. Our records show that you are not getting any of these benefits.Benefits that can affect Universal Credit are:Jobseeker's AllowanceEmployment and Support AllowanceCarer's Allowance...."
She was on JSA before but now changed to Universal Credit. She in this case did not do anything after receiving the message on the journal.poppy12345 said:It should say what the deductions were for. I have attached a screenshot of the deduction made, hopefully it'd help.0
