Unusual sleep disturbance

So I've really struggled to feel refreshed when I wake up, although I don't keep waking up. I wouldn't say it was vivid dreams, but more very active thoughts, last week it was about preparing for an interview this week is the US election, an upcoming exam, covid, and umpteen other things.
Reading the above I'd say it was a manifestation of stress, but I'm usually a very laid back person.
I probably am a bit bored, but mentally stimulated throughout the day with work.
I'm just desperate for a good night's sleep.
Any ideas most welcome, TIA

Have you thought about sleep apnoea? That can give the ffects you mention. Appear to sleep well but don't actually feel refreshed and possibly wake with a headache. Do you tend to fall asleep in the day? Another indicator.2

I probably would fall asleep in the day if I wasn't working, but I have on occasion found it very difficult to stay awake.
I can't recall waking with a headache, but have had a few recently and I rarely get headaches.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

I would say lockdown stress
I too would say Im generally pretty happy with my life, but Im tense, edgy, and haven't had a good nights sleep since March
Finally gave in and asked the GP for help last week. I already take a small dose or sertraline since I hit the menopause, and the GP just upped the dose, and I have had two nights of 6 hours this week
I dont think many of us are aware of how much this year is affecting us. until the sleep becomes a nightmare. The brain working overtime is pure exhausting
Sertraline is usually prescribed for anxiety even though its a so called anti depressant. Im not doped up to the eyebrows or anything like that, I still have usual responses to situations, its just allowing my brain to slow down at night and let me sleep

Do you eat enough vitamin D? Low levels can affect sleep (I can't remember exactly how though) and it's hard enough here to synthesise it from the sunlight in a good year let alone a year spent in lockdown out of necessity. It is possible to buy a fingerprick blood test just to see, unless you're having other symptoms as well which would warrant a visit to the GP.
Stress is likely a factor as well, especially if your usual routines have been disrupted along with the constant uncertainty of official advice and just the whole stress of living through a pandemic. But if there are other factors as well (such as vitamin D) that are simple to fix, it's helpful to be able to identify and address them.1 -

Well I really need to do something, it's not getting any better. I'm going to try headspace but I have enough debating going on in my head all night.
Whether it's something I've watched that day, or a problem at work, something exam related or the covid vaccine and the logistical problems that come with it; it's all repeating over and over.
Highlights this week has been tigers, wide spread tigers being kept as domestic pets and the impact on day to day life.thanks to Tiger King.
And the merits of heaven and hell, what merits entry to either and is a point based system really the best option!! This was after watching the good place.
But I swear I'm asleep, not awake thinking of these things but my brain is just too busy to rest

Try sleep apnoea while having BCG treatment.
I had 10 trips to the loo last night so the little sleep I got in between did nothing to refresh me.0
