Getting car insurance

So you breached the terms of your policy (night driving) and they cancelled it? That was not 'unfair', you must have known that would be the result.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It is more laborious but see what quotes you are getting through the compare companies then investigate it directly with the insurance company that they show quotes for and see if the question is asked differently. Moneysupermarket etc will ask more questions and be less specific as they are looking across many different companies.venomx said:I've been checking quotes on moneysupermarket.
After closer inspection it says if you have " ever " had insurance cancelled. To which I will answer yes to when I do come to get insurance. I just think that's a bit unfair.
Other thing is I could always call up the insurer and ask them directly
I'll definitely take it anually rather than monthly
Also the APR on pay monthly insurance is scandalous. Try and get a 0% credit card to use just for this is often the best advice.
I think it is scandalous that insurance companies will cancel insurance for missing payments on a loan. The way it is set up is not right.1 -
Good advice thanks. Yes when I come to insure I'll definitely go direct and see what it says.ontheroad1970 said:

Just concerned I may have scuffed things up slightly by speculating some details and getting speculative quotes. Hopefully by the time I come to insure in a few months it'll be ok0 -
Good point. I fell foul to this years back before I found out.AdrianC said;
BTW, you are not "paying £x/month". You are buying an annual policy. You are taking out finance to pay for it monthly. That finance is not going to be free.Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0 -
I'm sure you have, but it's still a matter of historical record that you had insurance cancelled, which is considered a major blemish on your record.venomx said:

Unlike some criminal offences, there is no rehabilitation of offenders legislation to help you.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Fair enough that's all I need to know for now. Fingers crossed that by speculating quotes it hasn't messed anything up. I'm just the kind of guy to look too far into the future .
When I do come to look. Which site is best to compare ? Are comparison sites the best ?

Don't rely on comparison sites. Someone said upthread that Direct Line only ask for cancellation in the last 5 years to be notified. they don't use comparison sites...1

No point checking yet as I dont know what type of license I'll get from the DVLA0 -
Read the mse guide, basically use all the comparison sites, then check those not on comparison sites, then check the specialists. It laborious but can save alot of money. I'm doing it now.venomx said:Fair enough that's all I need to know for now. Fingers crossed that by speculating quotes it hasn't messed anything up.
