ok so if the paypal hold is on your side, it seems unlikely it's a scam.
still does seem a it weird though, and for that reason if it was me i'd at least be asking why the buyer want's the details to be sent first? why can't they just wait till it arrives in the post?
sticking to the paypal seller protection rules will keep you safe though, just makes sure you send it tracked to the address they have on the paypal payment and I'm not aware of anything that could go wrong

Correct me if i'm wrong but could he not put a block on the phone if he had this information before you send it. That would put you in a very difficult position.  As I said, please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • I have proof before sending though it’s working fine so any block put on after would be down to buyer I suppose

Telling you it was agreed before purchase when it clearly wasn't rings alarm bells to be honest, and it's a very strange thing to ask. He'll get the information when the handset arrives anyway, surely?

don't send the details until the payment clears
It depends on why the hold is there , if it is the normal 21 day hold which I suspect it is then item must be sent .
Exactly. That’s why I was curious.

    Not good enough.

Buyer claims it doesnt work they will get a refund if they know what they are doing.

It's an Iphone so a prime target for scammers, the information he wants is pretty unusual too so my radar would be tingling.

An Iphone is the easiest thing in the world to sell so I would use Gumtree for a cash on collection transaction.
