New boiler

You're right actually. I was actually using the gas safe register online. That wasn't the point though. The point was that no plumber was available for a repair but they came running for a replacement. It is useful information though. If you ever want a plumber quickly. Phone them and tell them you need a new boiler. They will be there in a jiffy!0

Phone them and tell them you need a new boiler. They will be there in a jiffy! And as it goes, I could make more money doing repairs all day than the fitting of a boiler.I work as a pair, and I can do them in a day. Long days of upward of 10 hours but that’s my choice.I do the wiring and making good myself. However, some of the people on here telling the engineer what HE should be making. Laughable.I note one saying happy to earn £300 a day.Is that £300 after all the insurances, payments of official bodies to become registered, overheads, vans, staff etc etc.How much does that cost? Guess what, you don’t know.Do you go to Tesco’s and ask how much they’re making on your shopping.
Luckily I have a good name and plenty of work to do. Half the people posting on here I’d walk away from not a spot of bother.
OP Have a look at the Baxi 825...good little quiet boiler, 10 year warranty and comes with a magnaclean.Cheaper than the Ideal.Ideal is a decent option though. If it’s a Logic make sure it’s a Logic Max..that has a 10 year warranty and one I put in my Mams house.Going up from that you have a Vogue. Exceptional boiler, I have one downstairs to go in next week. Again make sure it’s a Max and you will pay more.I generally fit a Nest, think they’re really good too. You can get a stat from Plumbs which is a rebranded Honeywell, the CM927
The ESI stats are also decent for a budget.2 -
Thanks. I actually got the final quote just couple of days ago and the below is priced at £2,000. Do you think this is standard? Perhaps I should add that I live in London where this probably costs more than other parts of the country. Another question is whether similar quote would really be much cheaper next summer?04/11/2020 quote isolate, drain and remove existingboileralter any required pipe worksupply and fit new ideal logic max24kw combination boilersupply and fit new fluesupply and fit new plumemanagement kitsupply and fit new inline scalereducersupply and fit magnetic system filtersupply and fit new wirelessprogrammable room thermostatsupply and fit thermostatic radiatorvalves to bedrooms if requiredchemically flush entire systemre-fill system with anti corrosioninhibitorcomplete all paperwork and registerboiler with gas saferegister boiler for manufactures 10year warrantyremove all rubbish from site andcomplete any making good0

Realistically you aren't probably going to get much less than £2K. Plumbers will come running if you ask them for a free quote. So you could probably get more quotes. Personally when they arrive I would ask them questions to assess if they have the knowledge and attitude to to the job well. I would check who was doing the work. Are they a salesman or are they actually doing the job? From the internet you can print out the boiler and other parts that you would need. You could then say you have had a few quotes and £2K is the best so far. Some will run straight out of the door. Some might say £1800. You need to make sure though that you are getting the parts that you want. You don't want them economising with cheap stuff. Plumbers can't all install boilers every day. So you have to let them have more money than if they were doing the other things that people pay plumbers for. Imagine you were an Eastern European plumber coming to the UK a few years ago and seeing the prices that people were paying for new boilers. It would be totally unbelievable.0

Hello.
I have now narrowed my quotes down to two. One is with Ideal logic max and another with glowworm boiler. The man who was representing company with the second boiler was of course claiming theirs is ten times better than Ideal as it's owned by Vaillant. While I fact checked and it is true, some reviews online suggest glowworm is much cheaper than Ideal logic boiler hence worse? If anyone could confirm that it would be much appreciated.
Thank you.0 -
Was talking with my neighbour at the weekend, who recently had a boiler replacement done by BG. Original job was to replace existing Ideal Standard Concorde (correded flue and obsolete parts) with System Boiler (heat only) in the kitchen. However, when installer came to do work he discovered that boiler would not fit in the space of the existing boiler. This led to works being re-evaluated and they ended up with Combi boiler in the attack, Hive controls,, hot water cylinder removed, cold water storage tank disconnected, all for original quoted price.
(Not sure why they didn't just fit system boiler in attic instead?, but that is their story).
All well and good until later that night when water starts to drip through living room ceiling. Called BG who attended quickly and found that WC ballcock was unable to hold now mains pressure cold water and a fault with original overflow installation resulted in water escape. Now transpires that bathroom flooring has all been saturated too and tiles have lifted meaning new floor and tiles required.
To be fair to BG they are carrying out all repairs at no cost to the customer, effectively admitting that they had not checked suitability for converting system onto mains water pressure.
Mistakes happen but at least they are prepared to put it all right,

https://idealboilers.com/tips-and-advice/how-long-does-it-take-to-fit-a-boilerFitting the boiler may only take one day. But there's the old boiler to decommission and remove.
And then disappears 30 min later on the back of a pick up truck0 -
