There is a poor lone lady who has been sitting in her car outside my property since early this morning with a puncture and still now at 17.50 has not received a call out from the rac.

Well, it doesn't look like they're very good, really.
Did she actually call them out? And why hasn't she continually called them all day to find out when they are coming?

I was with them a few years ago and they were there within the hour, as promised, when I used them.

The AA is better, though. I'm with them now and twice when I've called them, they've been there within fifteen minutes.

Did you offer the lady a cup of tea and/or sandwich? How do you know she's waiting for the RAC? I'm not really sure why anyone would wait ALL DAY LONG though. Are you sure you're not just being a spammer?

I'm wondering how you know all this. Did she tell you she was with the RAC and has been waiting 9+ hours?

Yes she did tell me as I returned home earlier today I asked if she was ok and she said she was with the rac and was worried if she was blocking my entrance -  which she was not

However, would you credit it not long after I finished writing this they turned up.
On seeing their flashing lights outside the lady looked very relieved - I did say to him OH you did turn up then!
It was one h*ll of a wait for the poor lady to have and I thought lone females had priority.

At what point would she have considered phoning round local garages and tyre fitters, instead of the recovery services?

She'd almost certainly have been on the road by lunchtime, with a smaller bill for the replacement tyre.
