Parking issues

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the rules on parking are for small privately owned flats?  We have recently had a non-resident park their work van here for a week or more and has recently started to park here again! Apparently as his mother owns 2 of the flats he is “entitled” to park here even though neither he nor his mother live here!
Thanks in advance.

What does your lease say about parking ?

If they own the flat then they probably have the right to park there unless it's dedicated spaces and they are parking in your space

  • We have numbered spaces relating to each flat and 4 visitors spaces. As he is neither a resident nor visiting anyone can we ask him not to park here?  His mother owns but rents out two of the flats.

If the mother owns the flats then she can allow whoever she likes to park in her spaces.
  • She may own the flats but she doesn’t live here... she rent them out.

It's perfectly possible that she rents out the flat(s) without the parking space(s), which she can then use.

  • The people she rents to use the parking spaces allocated to their particular flat. This person is parking in one of the very few visitors spaces... we only have 4 visitors spaces

Do you have a management company for the building? Might be worth discussing with them as they could write to the owner and explain the spaces are for occasional use and they should not use them regularly.

  • Good idea! Thanks x

How is this a problem? Is there regularly more than 3 visitors?
