ADVENT POSTING POTENTIAL PROBLEM

Options
I have posted an Advent thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6208931/a-12-12-the-12-days-of-christmas-fairfax-and-favor-sign-up-early-starts-01-12/p1?new=1 (please read comment from BootsMullery)

As far as I was/am aware we have a problem with posts being expired on the end date i.e. E: 12/12 would be expired 00.01, therefore lots of posts will be expired before they can be commented on for the final day.

I have been posting comps with the required 'closing date' field with the date a day later on all of my postings, and hadn't realised that this field was now the date that was being used for search.

As we go forward, more Advents being posted, we need to know if the expire at 00.01 on end date is still a problem and if so we're all going to have to be aware when posting and searching.

Could someone please advise if this is still a problem, and if so, how we're going to deal with it going forward?

It's been tweaked for some time, so a comp (or indeed an advent) ending 12/12 will still be available til 23.59.59 (one second to midnight) on the 12/12
thank you for letting me know @Misslayed, I'll bear that in mind when doing other posts too  :*

I just added a comment on this post (to test) which ends today so it seems this isn't a problem now.

I've been into all of my current posts and amended the end dates to reflect the correct end date (not +1)

Whenever I have entered a competition on the last day, mainly twitter, between 9pm and 11pm I've been unable to turn the Entered button green. Therefore, when going back through to make sure I've not missed any and finding the Entered button still pale, and trying again only with Twitter you can see you've entered it and realising it's because the Entered button will NOT go green at that late hour.

With that in mind, I always add the +1 date to the competitions I post.

    Can this be fixed, please!

@CraSiEla  I have just checked some Twitter competitions and this is not happening for me. This used to happen because threads were being closed at 00:01 in the morning on the day of the End Date but is now OK because the closing doesn't now happen until 11:59 in the evening of the day of the End Date. If this is still happening for you but not on all competitions, it is more likely to be a problem at your end rather than MSE.
    A specific example might help.
If you add the extra day, the sort facility will sort the comp among the comps ending 1 day after the actual End Date and they will have ended by the time they are seen by people entering on the last day.

If you are using Search to find all comps ending on a certain date rather than using the Sort facility, you may well be missing some comps that Search doesn't find because so many End Dates are incorrectly formatted in the Titles.
The Sort facility uses the mandatory Closing Dates to collect all one date together and is much more accurate than Search as long as the dates are entered correctly rather than deliberately extended by 1 day.
