It's the midsole that's important - not the outsole

That is so true. The first marathon I ran resulted in stretched outer knee ligaments, due to the collapsed midsoles on my HiTec Silver Shadows (shows you how long ago that was). I trained and raced in Nike air Pegasus after that and had no more problems.
  • Yeah.  I've just replaced a pair of ASICS Cumulus that had done 420 miles and the loss of cushioning in the midsoles of the old shoes compared to the new ones is astonishing.  The old ones don't absorb any shock any more.  The thought of somebody doing 900 miles is ridiculous - and worrying!

(Hi Tec Silver Shadows were good shoes - in the 80s!)

Take a look at this site: https://www.trainersale.co.uk/
They scrape all the main websites who have trainers on sale and Organise them by brand.

Things are far easier than you think.
