Didn't it used to be the case that customers in the KC area could get free local calls long before BT ever dreamt up Option 1/2/3? Shame that the monopoly has fallen so far behind the rest of the UK :(

Phonecheap http://www.phonecheap.co.uk/rates.php works on KC lines too.

Yes but KC charge a 6p connection charge when you dial their non-geographical numbers and you start paying when you hear announcement even if not connected. Where as with 18185 you dont pay unless your connected.

But what you refer to as the "annoucement" is the call being answered, so you are connected, all be it held in a queue.
  • One good thing about KC is that local calls only cost 4.05p no matter the length of the call.

I always get out side companies calling up asking me to switch and they dont seem to understand when i tell them the're wasting their time and we have no access.

I am not sure why you are paying, as calls to local numbers are inclusive on all plans.

DECLARATION: I'm a Utility Warehouse Distributor.

The Utility Warehouse offer "Home Phone" to KC customers, you still pay the line rental to KC and all the calls are charged to The Utility Warehouse.

I was told this week that OneTel offer a similar service too, so there is some competion in regard to call charges but you're stuck with KC for the line rental.

You conveniently forget to mention the surcharge of £1 per month in respect of any option selected that is delivered by smart box to KC Customers and the £1.76p a month. membership charge.£33 a year before you pay for your calls.

The purpose of my post was to show there are other options in the Hull area rather than to advertise UW's services and costs.

You don't have to look too far on these boards to know UW charge a monthly fee, it still works out cheaper than KC's call charges.
