how can I soundproof my bed? I was thinking about getting a curtain rail and putting it around my bed and getting soundproof curtains. Will this work? I don’t really want to spend a lot of money and my DIY skills are rubbish

What sort of noise are you trying to cut down on ?The type of noise and the source makes a big difference to the sort of insulation and installation methods.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Just a tv and a communal door being slammed0

it is very difficult to sound proof. i would just use earplugs.1

I'd agree with AskAsk. I could certainly build you a soundproof booth to go around your bed but I think you might find it oppressive. Curtains, even acoustic curtains, will do very little for soundproofing - they're mainly used for deadening the sound of a room.0

Absolutely use earplugs. I used to hate the idea and couldn't sleep with them, but I did a bit of reading around online and found out how many different shapes and materials of earplugs exist. Once I found a type that suited me = WOW!! Pure bliss at night ...

Can you give a bit more detail about the noise and how it is travelling to your ears?
For instance is the communal door that is being slammed outside or inside your home and is the noise travelling to you through one or more closed doors?
In the past I've managed to reduce the noise coming into my home quite considerably by various means but think if you could give more specifics that there are probably others reading who could help you too.0 -
Self closer on the communal door would help for starters

i have very sensitive hearing and i need absolute silence to sleep, so i use 3M foam ear plugs and i can't sleep without them on. you get used to them and you don't notice when they are on, but you certainly notice when they are not onSoot2006 said:Absolutely use earplugs. Specialist hearing-aid shops will also do custom fit ear plugs. These are moulded exactly to your ear, and cut everything out. They are not cheap. Mine were £80 a number of yars ago.0
