If the owners close the site over-and-above Government decree, then it is the owner who made the decision and should refund the appropriate proportion of site fees.  That differentiation may be spinning on a pin-head.

I just saw that on the Government website but I'm assuming if they're closing the site, he wouldn't be able to stay!
Best wait a few days. Like everyone else, the company will have been caught out by the announcement and will be looking at what they can/can't do. Another factor will be the local council as during the last lockdown, councils were encouraging sites to house both key workers and those "between homes".

A quick call in a few days will clarify.
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
    • When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
    • "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.
Just visiting - back in 2025

Yes I did! It sounds like the 'loophole' they have is that our fees are mainly for the 'storage' of our caravan on their land. They don't break down the costs for facilities such as entertainment etc.

How is the land funded?  Leased?

Surely the entertainment isn’t going to be more than a small proportion of the fees? The rest of the site still needs to be kept in good order, future building works funded, staff employed, etc.

It was originally farming land owned by the current directors' family.

I read Thrugelmir's question differently?  Not "how is the caravan site as a whole owned / funded / leased?", but "how is the space occupied by each caravan funded / leased?"  Each caravan has to rent the space so that the landowner gets an income from the land.  Income from the 'operational' activities such as bars, restaurants, fun park are all over-and-above the land rental income.
