How hard to be excepted for £1600 Dfs sofa with poor credit score

I think it's something to do with Barleys finance. Is it easy or hard, If I get excepted would this mean my credit score is okay?

That sort of finance is relatively easy to get, as the goods are overpriced to compensate for bad debt.

Acceptance has nothing to do with your score, but your credit history.

Is it zero percent interest? I suspect those are harder to get than finance with interest.

In any case the three digit score you see is meaningless as no lender sees it

It was Creation. I would advise buying second hand rather than an over priced one, if at all possible.
  • Why on earth do you want to spend £1600 on credit for an overpriced underwhelming sofa?
Look around the charity shops, I saw a Marks and Spencer as new condition sofa in a charity shop for under £100 recently.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

I think they only want the sofa...

I agree with looking in charity shops.

For example, my friend bought a beautiful, almost new two seater John Lewis sofa from British Heart Foundation for £60. She was told that they always send soft furniture for steam cleaning before it's sold. My friend is really pleased with it and feels quite smug, as she only had to spend £60!

  • We had a sofa we could not give away - nothing wrong with it just too big for the room it was intended in the new house.
Facebook has tons of furniture for next to nothing.
  • I brought a lovely blue fabric 3 seater sofa from Arthritis charity shop for £50 and I've had it 9 years but the springs are going. I was looking at Dfs and having had a few beers decided to see if I was entailed to the 0% interested they were doing. I did the application and the next day they said I passed the credit check. A few days later I cancelled the order (without any problems) because I didn't really need a new sofa that bad, bear in mind it was only a smuggler and puff for £1600 but it did indeed look nice. I will look back in the charity shops. I need something decent I can lay on while watching TV. I shouldn't relay on cosmetics.
  • £1600 DFS sofas are probably only valued at £800 or less, the 0% interest and people who default on the payments is all built into the price.

I tried negotiating with DFS once by offering payment in full versus 12 months no payments credit but they wouldn't budge because they knew the credit deal was worth more for them and clearly if I could pay in full now I wasn't going to default on the payments.

If at all possible, avoid those kind of furniture deals, get something second hand, plenty of good quality sofas available if you can be bothered with the transport, my current sofa cost me £120 for a two and three seater and it is as good as new and over £1000 in DFS for the equivalent.
  • I have just looked on Facebook on their marketplace (first time I've been on it) and they have lots of lovely sofas I'd be interested in. I can arrange transport with second hand shop who has a van. Thank you all for the suggestion.
