Hi I am fixing joists to the outside house wall for decking using 6 x 100mm screws plugs but unsure what size diameter plug i need or even type.
Advise on the type of screw also please
The joist is 45mm wide and will have about a 10mm gap between the joist and the outside wall for which i will be using a cut up hose pipe
Thanks

Standard brown plugs, just make sure to get good quality ones e.g. branded Rawl or Fischer, the cheaper ones are not the same IMO.2

Can also depend on the wall material. Sometimes have to use a 6mm or 6.5mm to get it right.0 -

I am not convinced a 10mm gap is a good idea.1 -
Not sure on screw or plugs only what ive read on wickes site about the gap for drainage Step 15

I would not use size 6 (3.5mm) screws for a wall plate.
I would use an SDS drill 8mm and 8mm wall plugs.
Corrosion-resistant screws size 10 (5mm) would be my choice.

Is this above or below the DPC?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
I used hammer fixings for the decking joists 20 years ago. https://www.screwfix.com/p/rawlplug-universal-ffi-frame-fixings-10-x-100mm-25-pack/73814?tc=KA2&ds_kid=92700048793290424&ds_rl=1249413&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlvT8BRDeARIsAACRFiXKNb4MXK1PM-gb_pvvl8K_FfoV02PmWINIZjGM2ARh4Y-9YRFZqz0aAqQEEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Just drill straight throuhg the joist into the wall and hammer them in
The problem with 100mm screws and plugs is it's a !!!!!! to get them screwed in.1
