If there's a clause in there about not covering 15 years and older cars then I would not want to be trying to argue the toss with autoaid at the side of a motorway when trying to get them to honour their policy. StartRescue seem to have much better reviews and customer service these days than AutoAid plus you can simply opt out of auto-renew online; I'll be going with them this year. 15% cashback too. Thanks for all replies.
Just make sure your cashback tracks. I did mine with Topcashback and it didn't. I've since raised a claim but still waiting.
  • The trick is to use a different browser just for cashback, then it seems 100% reliable. It fails where you have already visited a site; the site has already put cookies on your computer and then you go back to the site via cashback and it doesn't log it as a valid cashback referral. So if you normally use Chrome, use Firefox or Edge for cashback or vice-versa

Hi, just received my renewal from Autoaid & it includes a £10 premium for my spouse/partner. This was free until this renewal. Autoaid are saying that it is the Underwriters that have put this premium on. To confirm, there is also a £25 excess you have to pay on each & any breakdown call out if your car is over 10 yrs old. As mine is just over the 10yrs I will be moving over to Start Rescue even though the cover will be specifically for the car that is registered to me. No real complaints about Autoaid apart from the charge of £25 not easily seen.

Right on cue I needed to call out AA (via Nationwide) for a breakdown today. Car is over 15 years and no issues with AA dealing with it, arrived within 30 mins.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Out of pure chance I've got AA on my 24yr old car.

Came as a very cheap deal (roadside cover and will take the car to a garage and me wherever I specify) when I used them as a broker.
The offer continues though a bit more. When they were going to put it up I said 'too much' and before anything else it was returned to a lower price. Negotiate.

When I did break down in the wilds without a smart phone they were quick to find me, reassuaring over time, who to expect and were just great about following me back, protecting my back and dealing with the garage. Then took me home.

Got to say may not be the absoloute cheapest but it's totally changed from back in the day when it was 2hrs and I had an elderly, blind aunt in the car. That's why it's taken me years to return.
RAC left me and a friend alone in a dark car park for 3hrs with youngsters racing cars around us

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Not sure if this helpful but on my 16 year old Mondeo, Aviva one were competitive on price for insurance and they also offered an RAC add on for roadside plus  nationwide recovery for £39
