They have been put on a list of people who have the required attributes and may be offered a job if one comes up in their location. If there are more people on the reserve list than available jobs they can't possibly all get jobs.Just because you did get a job offer doesn't mean everybody will, any more than somebody on the list not getting a job offer means nobody ever does. People generally remain on the reserve list for around 12 months1

Excuse me. They wrote HAVE in capitals therefore it is DEFINITELY correct and MUST be true.TELLIT01 said:MalMonroe said:Congratulations, OP because you HAVE been offered a job and you will get one as soon as one becomes available. The OP has not been offered a job. A major problem at present, even for those who have been offered a job, is going to be training. When I started with DWP we had 6 weeks solid classroom based training followed by about the same time working directly with a mentor checking all work, then working fairly independantly but with a mentor still available. I don't see how effective training can be given to 80 people if social distancing is properly implemented.

Hi, it was an AO job, the process started back in July !! Done all tests etc etc , had interview 8th September had e mail about 11 days after asking all questions (put in main paragraph) then just over another week saying congrats etc etc . I do know they were taking on 80 people and as it was being finalised the Government said about working from home again , so I'm kinda of hoping that's why delay .ACunningham21 said:Hey OP, congrats on the successful interview! Just out of curiosity what role did you apply for with the Civil Service? I had an interview two weeks ago and I am still waiting to hear, how long did you wait for a response?
Good luck with yours anyway 😘.1 -
All training is now being remotely delivered by MS Teams.TELLIT01 said:A major problem at present, even for those who have been offered a job, is going to be training. I realise that will be necessary, but remote learning, or computer based learning in an office, is nothing like as effective as face to face. Most of the CBT I did when I started at DWP had errors in it and the instructor had to provide workarounds. If the training isn't accurate how are new people supposed to do the job properly.antonic said:

Normally all that matters that is the training is delivered, not the quality of the content.0 -
Shortly after we had been 'trained' to use CAM for ESA processing we had a visit from the chief civil servant for DWP. He claimed that he had been assured that both the application and the training had been end-to-end tested to ensure it was fit for purpose, and he believed it was the most robust system ever developed for DWP. I commented that prior to working for DWP I had spent over 30 in IT, mostly in support roles and that in my view it was the worst system I had ever encountered. I listed about half a dozen issues with the application itself and the same number of faults in the training, including having to enter O (capital o) instead of zero on some screens to proceed. I asked how that squared with the supposed thorough end-to-end testing during development. He said he would investigate when he returned to his office but we never heard from him again.antonic said:
