It happened to me a few years ago, I went for an interview and had to do psychometric testing followed by a further interview. I was told congratulations, we want you (more or less!) but - unfortunately there are no openings at the present time.
So I was bitterly disappointed and applied for and got another job - not one I was happy with though and two months later I received a letter from the CS offering me a job at the Home Office if I wanted it. I did. And because I'd done the interviews and testing already, I was able to just walk straight into that job.
Same will happen to you, the very worst part is over, it's not bad news, it's good news. You'll just have to wait a while. And it may not be too long either. Try not to be too disheartened and/or gutted. If another job doesn’t become available than there is no job.5 -
The Civil Service is recruiting, provided the description of what you applied for is sufficiently open e.g. a policy job, programme management, analyst, economist etc. a similar job should be offered to you.
People who are hiring get your application and will then decide if you'd be suitable (e.g. that the role you were interviewed for is sufficiently close to the vacancy they are looking to fill) and if it is you'd be contacted. Might take a few months though, so don't stop hunting or applying for jobs (including those in the Civil Service).

Good luck with yours anyway 😘.1 -

I was put on the CS reserve list back in Feb and was offered a role in September.
Fingers crossed you get offered something eventually!0 -
Good luck, some departments open their reserve lists for 6-12 months, sadly there is no guarantee of a job at the end but you've got to remain positive.
The civil service are receiving lots of applications at the moment so it may be that the reserve lists increase more than usual at this timeMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
Make £2024 in 2024...2 -

I can put up with you posting your pie in the sky advice with RANDOM capitals all over the boards, but being a hypocrite really grinds my gears.
You cannot say the OP is guaranteed a job. Exactly how long ago did you go through the civil service recruitment programme. You said ‘a few years’ but a few isn’t very consistent with your other posts. I imagine it was quite a long time ago when the world was quite different.
I hope the OP does get a job from this application process but it is far from a guarantee.3
