funfunder said:Thank you for your replies. I should come clean I didn’t do this, it’s happening to me and my small business. I wanted to know what people really thought. I am being made to feel guilty that I won’t give the customer a refund. I have already lost over £50 on the transaction and endless hours worrying and even more tune replying to the woman. She’s had a credit note for months now but still I am
being threatened. Your replies reassure me I al
doing the right thing. Sorry I did it this way but I wanted to know how people saw it from her point of view. Don’t think bad of me because I just want to make sure I am being fair. Your replies actually shocked me as you saw it in such a different way. Thank you and sorry again0 -

Yes, and people assumed the first version of events was true as well, which included admissions of attempted fraud, so perhaps you can understand that people might consider you untrustworthy and that you're shifting the story to get the answers you want.
People gave advice in good faith. If you're going to ask for advice it's courteous to be up-front and honest, rather than drip-feeding information then switching sides because you didn't like the responses given.1 -
I can sort of understand the OP's MO ... pretend to be the consumer so that the advice given is from the consumer's perspective, so isn't tainted by trying to respond to a seller.
If OP had truthfully posted then the responses would have been along the lines of "Can you prove that the consumer made those false claims to Paypal"?The retailer said they would refund me when PayPal paid them, it seems my payment went through 2 security checks (Lasted 2 weeks). (PayPal confirmed) I needed my money quickly so I first claimed I hadn’t used my card and it was fraudulent use, when that didn’t work I claimed not as described but PayPal they wouldn’t refund me at all! The retailer tried but PayPal refused to process the refund and the retailer gave me a gift card.
