    That's a very old phone.
This message normally means the phone is network locked.

That's a classic and high quality handset, but in general such old tech and the latest generation SIMs are not compatible.

What is the wording of the code request?
    Evolution, not revolution
  • Thank you for your replies. The phone is my mothers who insists she will not change it. I am not 100% about the wording of the messages so I will try again today myself and get back to you both. I think it is a blocked code. She has always been with O2 but Sky works on O2 network . I will up date on how I got on.

Sky piggy backs onto O2, there is a difference.  There are only four mobile networks in this country - Vodafone, EE, O2 and Three.  Everybody else piggy backs onto one of these networks.  Sky Mobile is technically a different network using the network provided by O2, so it is a different network as far as the phone is concerned.
  • Thanks for all the replies. I spoke with both Sky and O2 today. The Phone is locked to O2 so sky could not help. O2 are able to process an unlock code so the phone will work on any network. All they needed was the phone model and the IMEI number.
Only issue it the process will take up to 7 days. So that 7 days  that mother will not bother me so just wait to see what happens next.

Usually takes 24 hours but can be longer as they get the unlock code from the manufacturer and or o2 would gave the unlock codes in there database but if they don't tgen they get the codes from the manufacturer
