I was switched over to Eon Next, they didn't even contact me. I have been with Eon for years. Can anyone help me with the following? My fix rate finished in January 2022. I assumed I would go onto the £1200 price cap that Martin mentions. I have managed to get onto Eon Next website, finally, couldn't get through online, their lines are down. They have me down on £1518.97 flex variable rate. It's not something I have picked, I don't understand why I'm not on the price cap until April?0

The flex variable rate is set to the price cap. You must use more than the 'average' user, so your annual cost are higher than £1200. Did you think you could use as much energy as you wanted and you wouldn't have to pay more than £100 a month.0

No I didn't expect to use all the energy I want and only pay £100 a month. I did think the price cap was a price cap and therefore they couldn't just charge what they liked and not even have the decency to tell me what the hell they were doing.0

Welcome to the forum.almostlastgenx said:And what is the price cap on the kWh exactly? I found only an average on the Ofgem website, stating 28p, but eon next advises my new rate from the 1st of April would be 32p for the days?Different caps apply for those with multi-rate metering (eg. E7) and those who pay by cash/cheque or pre-payment meter. From your words - "32p for the days" - it sounds as though you are a multi-rate metering customer?N. Hampshire, he/him. Economy 7 indeed, electricity only paying by DD. It is estimated my £2650 bill to raise to £3670 which will put as up to hardship.

i have been with Eon for about 15 yrs and never had any issues with them until few years ago i had called to renew my tariff when it ran out. Due to me having health issues the guy told me they had this tariff for people with low incomes which would be the best option for me. I didn't change anything in way of how i used my fuel, yet a few months later i ended up with a bill for over £400 on top of what i paid each month (which had covered my costs for all the years before that ) i called to ask and got my brother to help me check it and turned out the tariff i had been moved to was almost double the daily standing charge to the one i had been on previously, yet it was meant to be for people on low incomes. I put in a complaint but they basically said i would have to pay it, I was extremely angry and due to this I've not been able to change to another supplier.
They changed me onto another tariff but again a high standing charge because other tariffs were not available to me due to the outstanding bill. Ive now paid off the debt but not before all the issues with fuel increases and Martin advising us to stay put with our tariffs.
Ive just had an email from Eon next (which as i said i didn't ask to change to ) and they are increasing my monthly usage from £102 (it was £70 before all the debt issue ) to £162 per month. I simply cannot afford that on benefits i get and I'm now getting more stressed which is not going to do my health any good.
They say to contact them if having issues with payments but I just feel whats the point if they didn't help me before when it was their employees mistake at change of tariff, then why would they help now0
