The COVID Symptom Study app and NHS COVID-19 app are different. Here’s why you need both!

bradders1983 said:None of that has any relevance to me not wanting to use an app along with half of the rest of the population, and your suggestion that me not using the app makes me (and everyone else who doesnt want to use it) a non social distancing superspreader is beyond absurd . I think we are done here, unless you want to rake through more of my post history in an attempt to score a meaningless point?
Well if you simply don't do things that will help other people for no real reason just because you don't want too then why would you be following social distancing guidelines?. I'm not trying to score any points, like I said I'm happy to call out anyone who is selfish and ignorant when it comes to this virus because it effects everyone. Personally I care about how my actions effect other people and I'm happy to do things to help others even if it inconveniences me. If everyone was like this then we wouldn't need further lockdowns but unfortunately lots of people have the same selfish attitude as you. Ironically even when I gave an example of how your attitude has ruined your own life you still think your in the right. If you still need this to be explained to you then keep replying and I'll do my best to get through to you.0 -
Yes I will be happy to derail this thread for as long as you are. "Half the UK population are selfish". Reasonable 🙄-1

But there is no detriment to you by downloading these apps but they will help other people and you blankly refuse to do it for no reason. I'm sure your the kind of person to also ignore social distancing guidelines when you feel like.
All I'm going to say is stop being so ignorant and selfish and think about other people for a change. I've had enough of selfish people requiring lockdown restrictions to get tighter and tighter and ruin everyone's life.
It's funny how you report my post because a few factual words has upset you but you have no problem in spreading a virus with real consequences that causes some people to die!.
Just have a good think about that.
If the virus was doing it why are people in Sweden basically living a normal life, and certainly doing no worse than us? The effects on normal life are entirely man-made.

In their daily lives? Because politicians imposed absurd rules on them. The virus didn't do it o them.Thrugelmir said:

So the virus should be left unchecked in Manchester and Nottingham. Putting huge pressure on the NHS and other health services.Yahoo_Mail said:

Sweden is nearly double the size of the UK with a small fraction of the uk's population. So I would say population density would be main difference in a viral pandemicYahoo_Mail said:
There are no "serious consequences" to normal life as a result of the virus, there are serious consequences to normal life as a result of politicians, who are far more interested in getting re-elected, pandering to people who have forgotten that people die and we're not the masters of nature that we've lead ourselves to believe, putting in absurd restrictions so just so they look like they're doing something. Even though it won't make a jot of difference in the long run.Takmon said:

Yes that is correct and if you have the ability to change government policy and stop any further restrictions being put in place then go ahead and do it. Personally I don't have that ability and neither do most people, but I do have the ability to take reasonable measures such as following social distancing guidelines and downloading the app to reduce the spread of the virus which is the only way I can influence the government at them moment.0 -
But don't forget a proportion of people who haven't downloaded it will not know about it, not understand how it will be useful etc.bradders1983 said:Yes I will be happy to derail this thread for as long as you are. "Half the UK population are selfish". Reasonable 🙄
So they aren't as bad as someone like you who knows about the app but blindly refuses to download it because you don't think about anyone but yourself.
But you probably just have this attitude online and I wouldn't be surprised if you have already downloaded the app because if you had this attitude in life you would be a very unhappy and lonely person indeed with nobody wanting to be around you.0 -
Nope. Defo not got it. Sorry to disappoint. The other half doesnt have it either by the way.
Arent sweeping generalisations about people who dont have the app fun, eh?0 -
I do not use the Symptom app because it is idiotic, what is the point of putting in that I do not have symptoms again and again. I only use the exposure tracking app when required to check in to a venue, the rest of the time it is disabled as again it is such a blunt instrument it is largely pointless. Neither apps serve any real purpose, they exist so that the government can be seen to be doing something, even if it is ineffective.
I run my own company, but the offices are on a specialist site, because of that we have the opportunity to be tested every day and I am tested every day I go to the office, which is 3-5 times a week. That has far more point to it than either if the useless apps as it would show infection before symptoms occur and would also show if something was COVID or not, rather than just a cold (although I have not had a cold this year either). I would also get the flu jab to reduce transmission of that if it was actually possible to get one at the moment, but it is not. I am not someone who thinks that COVID is made up, I do think the response is disproportionate and badly handled and I think both apps are useless, that does not mean that I do not take adequate measures to reduce possible transmission, nor does it make me selfish, it makes me rational and pragmatic.0
