If you have a water meter then you water bill will be based on how much you use - have you checked your meter against the readings on the bill to see if it's been read recently. If you've been using more than £24 worth a month then you'll have arrears to pay which will account for your perceived "price hike" They dont usually just crank up the DD unless they think you are using more - has there been a rise in price of of water. or sewerage
Check your previous bills to see when the meter was last read and whether you were in arrears or credit.
If your bill is correct and your payments are covering your consumption (ie you are not in credit or debit) then challenge them and get your DD restored.
Generally you cannot change your water supplierNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Thanks for your quick reply matelodave
We are actually £23 in credit and I will check there web site for price changes0 -
Water charges for 2020/21 with Dwr Cymru rose by 1% to an average of £451pa.Have your bills been based on Estimated meter readings?0

They refuse to except readings other than every 6 months I tried to send the readings every month but they wouldn't except them0

E.G. I pay £40 a month by DD for my water. If I look at my account today it could show that I am £200 in credit built up over the last 5 months.. Tomorrow a bill for £300 could arrive and my account is £100 in debt.As stated earlier, your water company have only increased charges by 1% this year. So the 50% rise in your monthly payments is because:A. You have used a lot more water.B. Your bills have been based on over-estimated meter readings.C. You carried forward a large debit from your previous bill(s)
