  • So my timeline

4th Nov - Broken submits offer
4th Nov - Hard and Soft Search shows up on Credit Karma
4th Nov - Physical Valuation booked in
    12th Nov - Valuation Done
19th Nov - application reviewed by underwriter, valuation satisfied and referred to ID team for verification of ID and proof if address
20th - Passed ID checks and has now been passed to the Offer team to create the offer
There were a couple of times they came back and asked for more information between application and valuation but we're both employed so relative straight forward application

I just need the official offer in hand before I can properly relax!
  • anyone know how long the Offer team take to raise the paperwork?
  • 30/9 DIP / hard search
    6/10 application submitted
16/10 Broker says failed underwriting due to affordability. Broker disagrees and ‘repackages’ application
    21/10 Submitted again to Barclays
28/10 Today, broker says it’s passed through underwriting and awaiting house valuation now.
    19/11 Valuation finally booked
    23/11 Valuation takes place
    25/11 Bank statements requested

So.... still no offer and I doubt we’ll be moving in time for Christmas 😭
I really thought we were going to get an answer this week! So disappointed!

Sorry to hear your progress has been slow. We finally got our offer through yesterday so just about 3 weeks. Applied on 4th Nov.

I don't think you'll be far off. From when the underwriters signed ours off it took about 3 working days to go through the ID check team and the offer team to raise the paperwork

Finally our offer has been sent today :)

03/11 Full submission included Hard Search (Karma & Experian), we passed credit checks.
And MB sends pays slips and other documents.
06/11 sign Barclays mortgage declaration .
11/11 KYC team request more proof of our new address.
13/11 MB told no need for physical valuation and underwriters are reviewing documents and KYC documents are being reviewed by KYC team.
16/11 KYC documents accepted after being referred.
    20/11 Desktop valuation satisfactory
25/11 Offer sent to myself and solicitor.
  • I honestly can’t believe how fast the process was for me.
    DIP/Hard Search 16/11
    Application submitted 20/11
    Offer received 28/11
  • Quick question on 'offer received' with Barclays mortgages. Does this mean they send a soft copy of the mortgage immediately to the applicant and solicitor followed by posting a hard copy that will ultimately require a signature? If so, can the solicitor typically then start preparing exchange documents? Or is it necessary to wait for the hard copy to arrive?

    DIP 27/10
    Hard search 28/10
    Application submitted 10/11
17/11 Requested additional ID so went to back of queue
Offer received by e mail 30/11
I understand hard copy sent out same date as e mail and sent to us and solicitor but sent second class, I believe solicitor needs hard copy before doing anything.
  • Oct 23rd: Application submitted

Oct 27th: Supporting documents (payslips, SA302s, tax year overview) submitted

November 2nd: Additional document requested. Sent on the same day.

    November 9th: Valuation instructed

November 16th: Barclays asked a different from to our financial adviser and also alleged that they did not receive additional document sent on November 2nd. Sent them again...

November 24th: Awaiting final underwriting assessment

November 29th: Additional document requested (which was submitted on October 27th...). Sent it again!

Process seems to be quite slow but we hope to get a decision this week.

Here’s an overview of our experience with Barclays in case it helps anyone else:

17/11 – application submitted. Hard search completed on both myself and my partner

18/11 – broker confirmed application had been agreed in principle subject to underwriting

27/11 – Barclays requested further proof of address for myself as I have recently moved in with my partner

    16/12 – offer received

Absolutely delighted! Hope everyone else’s applications are progressing well and you all get good news in time for Christmas too 😊
