Short term loan abroad

Options
Hi
My partner is in a bit of a fix at the moment.  He's a military service man and needs a small short term loan.  However he is currently abroad and retiring but he needs access to a loan before he hits the UK.  His UK bank won't help as they want him to see them personally which he obviously can't and he's getting frustrated because he can pay the money back as soon as he gets to the UK. Unfortunately im not in a position to help.  Can anyone please advise?

Can SSAFA be of any help ?
Ask one of his mates ?
No one on here can advise you further as we have no knowledge of foreign banking, or what country he`s in or anything.

How much money does he need to "get home"? I'm surprised the military aren't providing this unless it's an authorised leave. If it's really just a case of getting flight money together, can't you have a whip round friends and family or start a crowd fund? I can't see how he'd need a large personal loan along with all the terms and conditions just to pay to get home. Can't it be put on a credit card and paid off on return?

    Credit card?
Ask the military to sort something?
There used to be a bank that “specialised” in military personnel, can’t recall its name now.
  • Can he not apply online for a loan?

If he's coming to the end of his service abroad then the final journey from his last station to home is at his own cost, or this is the way it used to be

I dont see a short term loan being granted.

As advised ask his friends, family.

Interesting, never knew this. If it's just coming home then, can't see it being big money loan needed for the journey even if it's a far reaching post. I think OP is thinking of some kind of short term payday loan but a credit card would be a much better option. Even if a friend could stick it on theirs on the proviso it's paid off straight away?

Can you be a bit more specific, there’s a lot of information missing here, what does he need the money for exactly ? The more details the better.
