Insurance Problem

I think most people will probably tell me its my own fault but this is what happened, I went back to work at the begining of October, hardly used the car and its mainly been off the road. I was parked up in a parking bay just stopped to use my phone when a scafolder reversed into me. I got out he got out and then his freind got out the other side, he said he didnt want to go through insurance and that he would get in touch. I got his plate and number. He was dropping his freind off then two more more girls came accross as well, im assuming one was the guy who was dropped off girlfreind. He never called me, so I contacted my insurance broker and told them by email what has happened, as I always thought it was best to let them know. The insurance I think is with someone else, my dielema is after contacting them I realised I had no MOT (it was due 30th March) Obviously with lockdown on 23rd March I didnt do it and we had a 6 month break so 30th September, I forgot about it, I have insurance and tax but this could void it. I was also told these kind of incidents can be knock for kock as well. I havent fully put the claim through im now worried to as ive clearly made a mistake myself even though I was not at fault for the accident, should I just leave it and say I sorted it, im really worried that I could end up with a massive bill or charge, Ive had a few answerphone messages asking for a call to fully clarify what has happened and from a hire firm for replacement car. The car just has a minor mark on the bumper but the boot door is damaged the car is fine otherwise. I understand its my fault but if you do have any positive advice please let me know.

The lack of an MOT can NOT void your insurance, regardless of what it may say in your policy documents. Just give the insurer what info you have and let them deal with it.Next time, get the driver's name and address, as he's obliged to give by law. A mobile phone number is next to useless.2

There is no money in selling motor insurance, there is a reasonable amount of money in selling your customer's details to accident management companies and credit hire companies. So if you are speaking to anyone be very clear that you understand exactly who they are... some accident management companies have been known to allow people to think they are speaking to their insurance company when they are not.
Anyone, including you, will be able to get both the registered owner and insurance details from the registration plate assuming you wish to pursue a claim. Credit hire/repairs maybe something you want to do rather than claiming off your own insurance just as long as you do so eyes wide open.1 -

Ok thanks, Performance direct I got the insurance from I think they are the broker. Kindertons I believe will deal with the claim, Ive only notified perfromanace direct, I have to get in touch with kindertons. I think its OK, what do you think?

Performance Direct are a broker and Kindertons are an accident management company and so will want you to let them/their partners deal with the claim on credit terms.
Credit hire/repairs is a hot potato and if you google or look on here you will find a lot of strong opinions and horror stories but the reality is that the majority of cases are dealt without issue to the non-fault party. They do significantly inflate claims costs and so arguably we are all paying for it in higher premiums but if insurers etc didnt want that then they should stop selling their own customers' details to these firms.1 -

OK so what would you advise should I just leave it and sort myself, the damage isnt that bad. The problem I have is ive sent in photos and details can I still pull out of it all?
