Received wrong item

Hello I received an item of furniture. We started to assemble the item, and part the way through, we noticed it was not the item.
I contacted the company, they said I have to either assemble or take apart the item and repackage. Either way is going to require time, inconvenience to me.
What are my rights?

Threre's no right to compensation for your time.
Your rights are to receive what you ordered or reject for a refund (assuming it's less than 30 days from delivery). But you're under an obligation to take reasonable care of the goods & make them available for collection, unless you have agreed to return rejected goods then you're under an obligation to return them.

I am happy to return the items half assembled.unholyangel said:But you're under an obligation to take reasonable care of the goods
I would not expect that there would need to be further inconvenience to me to spend 1/2 hr to disassemble.0 -
It could be argued that you should have checked you received the correct item before starting to assemble.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

...and yet you expect people to provide consumer rights information for nothing.natz169 said:
If they want me to now assemble or take the item apart, it will take 30mins of my time, I don’t work for free.JJ_Egan said:<What are my rights? I feel I should be compensated for my time >How much are you asking ??
I suggest you speak to a solicitor.11 -
The item did not have a product name, and the name on the box was consistent with the item I orderedTigsteroonie said:It could be argued that you should have checked you received the correct item before starting to assemble.0 -
You might be happy to, but they're not your goods...are they? You're also expected to take better care of other peoples goods than you would your own (think about if you borrowed something from a friend).natz169 said:

Inconvenience is to be expected in breach of contract, there are very few circumstances where a breach can occur without causing inconvenience. That's why you can't claim for it.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride2 -
Who said I’m not taking care?As far as I’m concerned, it’s as good as unsolicited goods0

Well, you're wrong. How can something that's arrived as a result of your contact and contract with a retailer be unsolicited?natz169 said:Who said I’m not taking care?As far as I’m concerned, it’s as good as unsolicited goods3
