  • Interesting. Comes in at £1900, triple glazed using their online quote tool.

Where do you stand on questioning the quote? Would you ever try to get a quote down or would you just walk away and focus on other quotes?

I'm on the other side of the coin.  The price is the price.  If you want cheaper then we reduce the specification together.

But I wouldn't be charging what they are for the purchase of a roof light! Not even that one.

I would ask what roof light was going in if you haven't already specified it?

  • All I specified was aluminium frame, contemporary style, anthracite grey.

I’ve emailed to request a finer breakdown of certain elements of the quote (materials, plumbing, specifics regarding the goalpost frame, and any potential trade discounts). I’m willing to pay more for his services (his work and portfolio is very impressive) but there’s a limit.

I agree with you though, I’m willing to question material costs (that’s black and white imo) but what he charges for construction is his call.

  • I love the Shaker-style here, which range is this? (Don't say Ikea, please!!).

It's not Ikea, it's a solid wood painted kitchen.

Ballymoney, I'm buying the same size rooflight this morning.   The double glazed one is 'off the shelf' and is £750 plus VAT.

  • That’s extremely good value! I’m wanting super slimline and possibly triple glazing but I’m confident I can get it close to £2k.

Thanks. Dare I ask, how do the prices compare with Howdens / DIY Kitchens? (hardwood)
