Hi all. I have just received an email (& follow up phone call) form a certain Anthony Daniels of Citibank offering me the opportunity to invest in their SLFC (CITIBANK) INTERNATIONAL PENSION FUND offering fixed rates of 2.14% for 1 year, 2.85% for 2 year or 3.72% for 3 years. They say they are covered by the FSCS & the investment is not at risk, but it all seems a bit too good to be true. Has anyone had any dealings with them? Any info would be very much appreciated.

If they made a cold contact to you then its likely to be a scam.6

Citibank would never cold call you. Ever. How would they obtain your number to call, if you never registered on their page?If you want to verify, call them yourself - contact details should be on their webpage. That way you will quickly determine yourself if that was a scam call.3

It's a clone scam. The company is real but someone else is pretending to be them. Pension companies do not sell fixed rate, fixed term savings bondsHow did they get your email address and telno? Did you enter your details into a Google link or Facebook ad?2

If you have to ask "Is it a scam" then 99.9% of times the answer is a resounding YES.
It's a scam if any of the following apply:
1) You get a cold call/email
2) They are very quick to say they are FSCS covered.
3) The rates of return are "guaranteed"
4) The rates of return are far in excess of what you could get from a reputable investment.
5) There is no information on what the underlying asset is.
6) It's a limited time offer so you need to act quickly to secure it.
Your happy scammer here tickets boxes 1, 2, 4 and 5.

Most likely you would see no return at all, and quite likely never see any of your money again.2

How did they get your details? Have you been googling or looking on facebook for bonds or long term investments?

Thanks for all the reply's guys. I have forwarded the email to CitiBank fraud dept.
As to how they got my details? I simply don't know, I have been looking at investments lately on google, so can only assume that was their way in.
It is quite scary, the brochure attached to to email was very professional looking & convincing, but I did suspect & your replies have confirmed my suspicions.
He is calling me back this afternoon, could be an interesting 'phone call.
Sincere thanks to you all0 -
Read the whole of this thread, it's a very common scam and carbon copy of yours down to the 'very professional looking & convincing' brochurehttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6181929/aviva-fixed-term-savings/p1

Clone scams often take genuine brochures in pdf form and edit them. Someone on this site showed us one recently where Aviva were being clone scammed. I was able to obtain the actual brochure pre-editing to show how the scammer had edited pages of text and pictures.
He is calling me back this afternoon, could be an interesting 'phone call.Just remember that this is a scam. Citibank are a genuine reputable firm and do not do the things this person is claiming. Cold calling like this is not allowed and Citibank would not retail that corporate bond that way. This is very common scam method. So, dont let the person persuade you otherwise.
