Mumblingtaff - how many days are you short for isolating to go home? I would second the time off for stress, you need to go home for a proper break. Also what is your compassionate leave policy? Are you entitled to a day or two off for your uncle’s funeral? Would that give you enough days to isolate? Given the lack of support from your boss you need to look at every opportunity to look after yourself - she doesn’t deserve any loyalty at the moment. Please think of yourself first.7

So sorry to read about your treatment at school. Education is a tough enough place to work in as it is but when you get turned on by the levels above, that’s horribly stressful.

Thank you Moneywhizz - I am really counting the days now. A senior colleague of mine told me last night that he's being "supported" by management as of yesterday - in school speak that's the beginning of the end for him there. He's done nothing wrong... Can't wait to go now....
Anyway, had a better day today - got all my household jobs done, been to Sainsburys and had my hair done - that helps enormously - daft how having a haircut and a chin wag makes you feel more human. Also popped for a quick sun bed now they're open again - my psoriasis is understandably playing up and it helps dampen it down and will help to stop me looking like the pasty tired haggard old woman that I'm feeling these days!
Have also taken the dog to the park for a good run around - I don't see daylight during the week so it was good to get some extra fresh air and winter sunshine. He's tired out now too so that's a bonus!
I've finally written the Xmas cards and will drop them off next weekend - think its a bit early for delivering yet, although my street looks like Santa's grotto already! I'm debating whether to bother putting up the tree - might do as it will make things a bit more cheery I suppose. Will have to venture into the attic if I decide to......
All of my Xmas shopping is done and has arrived now - just need to wrap things and post them home but that seems a bit like admitting that I won't be there and might upset mum so will wrap them tomorrow and delay sending them for a while.
I just need to get a little present for the dog walker from the dog - will have a think about what she might like - she's also my friend now so I'd like to get her something nice but not too expensive. I've stuck to the Xmas budget for everything else so I'm quite happy with that.
Just watching the Welsh rugby match and waiting for tea to cook then I'll whip the dog round the block again and settle down for a while with a film - can't remember the last time I watched one and have a free Amazon Prime trial (that I'll cancel before it runs out in the New Year) so may as make the most of it.
Feeling much better now I've had a day off

Thank you Sarah, Tigger and Honeysuckle - your posts were hiding on the next page and I've only just seen them - sorry!
We don't know when the funeral will be yet - everything is backlogged in their area of Wales and we're waiting to find out,
I've worked out that if I took the last week off work and isolated it would get me to Xmas day ok - will have a proper think about it, although I spoke to my mum yesterday and she's now even more paranoid (rightly so) about going out, seeing people and having any visitors at all. Decisions to be made over the next few days.....
So last night I watched The Lie on Amazon - bit slow in parts but a good twist at the end - not too long either. I just don't seem to have the patience to watch anything over 90 mins or so these days
Trying to convince myself to go for a run with the dog but its freezing and damp and I'm lacking in motivation - I need to walk him so running might make that warmer and get it over with quicker!
I have a few little jobs to do today - make sure all the presents that have arrived are actually ok and then wrap them up, clean out the inside of the car (its like a mobile skip with half of the park thrown in for good measure by the dog), wash the spare room bedding (again a mucky dog thought it was great fun to jump all over them), go for a big walk later this afternoon for some fresh air and daylight and do about 90 mins of school work to get ready for the week (no more though!).
I'll also cook something for tea that will end up with an additional portion for tomorrow so its easy when I get home after the usual Monday night 2 hour meeting. I might go mad and tackle cleaning the oven but its a job I hate doing and so I might just ignore it for another week
Right, time to get dressed in running gear and see if it inspires me to move my backside faster than a dog walk.....4 -
So, a fairly productive morning - have forced myself for a 30 min run with the dog (always fine once you get going!), washed the bedding, cleaned the car inside and out, dropped a newspaper off for my elderly neighbour (the one that lost his dad last week) and done the recycling. Phoned home and they're very down today - think its sunk in now . Its really hard just being on the end of the phone and not being there
Need to still do the school stuff but can't be bothered yet - will have some lunch and think about it.....4 -

Sorry for your loss. I would find a way to go home for xmas after suitable self-isolation. I'm sure a gp would help under the circumstances. You are stressed and having a psoriasis flare up too....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thank you designingalife - you're right about running - a battle to get going but always a triumph afterwards, no matter how far or fast.
More difficult news this afternoon - my father's twin's two daughters and two of the grown up grandchildren all now have had positive COVID tests, some are quite poorly. The funeral finally was given a date and now has had to be postponed as most of his immediate family wouldn't be able to attend. Its bloody neverending at the moment.
I'm going to have to figure out a way to get back home soon - my parents are struggling.
Managed to get everything done that I wanted to today plus a few more jobs - just can't seem to sit still, probably stressed out and cleaning and fiddling about is always my way of getting on with it. have a very tidy house and all the ironing is done and the poor dog has been walked off his little feet.
I'm going to try to have an earlyish night and hope that I sleep a bit more than normal.
Things will look better in the morning.....5 -
So sorry to hear this news. Very scary times. Definitely consider giving your doctor a call - unless work helps distract you...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
