Oh I didn't know you were back with a new diary.
Your plans sound so exciting, and it's clearly giving you new momentum which I think all teachers must need especially in the current situation. So hard when everything is changing around you all the time.
Loved the story of your mum and dad treating you, I lost both of mine over the last year and this is exactly what they would do - made me smile.

    Hi Joey!
    Lovely to see you!
I'm sorry to hear about your mum and dad - its really heartbreaking.
Mine are getting older and I feel like they're getting more vulnerable, especially mum, and the move home is half driven by that. Although I'm sure they'll drive me round the bend from time to time !
  • Awake at the normal work time today so up early for a Sunday. Did manage a better sleep than normal though so I actually feel ready to go this morning.
Faffed about last night after watching a film on Netflix and cleared out the medicine cupboard and a big box from under the stairs and cleaned the sofa bed cover in the spare room using some upholstery cleaner I found in a cupboard. There's still plenty to do though.
Thought I'd do one of my lists to motivate me today.....
    • Finish marking chemistry mocks
    • Finish marking physics mocks
    • Dye hair (desperate now!)
    • Sort the airing cupboard out
    • Sort out the sock drawer
    • Finish sorting under the stairs
    • Do two big walks with the dog
    • Trip to the tip
    • Put petrol in
    • Prep some lessons for the week
    • Drop a newspaper off for my elderly neighbour (The Sunday Times keeps him going all week!)
    • Do a bit of personal grooming - nails, defuzz, face scrub
    • One load of darks washing
    • Do a bit of Xmas shopping online for mum
So, enough to keep me busy today :smile:
Just waiting for it to get light so I can get out for a walk then will crack on
  • Just started (and finished) reading your diary, your plans sound wonderful  :) I can't believe how much you manage to get done in a day! Enjoy your afternoon walk  :)

  • Great that you have made the decision and are now working towards your new life. Maybe it is time to cut down on the amount of hours you put in to your work. I know that there is a never ending list of things to do as a teacher and especially in a management position but really you sound exhausted with work and given that you are leaving in a few months it could be time to cut back a bit on all the extra time  you give to your work. Obviously you still need to do your job but it sounds like you go above and beyond what you need to do. 5 months of this is stlll a long time when every day is such a slog. Look after yourself.
  • Hi mumblingtaff, just came across your diary. Your plan for next year sounds great, I am slightly envious!
I seen that episode of DIY SOS you mentioned, the one with the surfing for kids with disabilities?  The beach and surrounding area looks glorious so not surprised you want to head back there.
I am just starting on a new career path but the thought of working all the hours as you are now fills me with dread- I definitely work to live rather than live to work.
Also kudos how you manage to fit so much in to one day ☺️ I'm delighted with myself if I do as much as a bit of laundry!
  • Oh your pies sound lovely! Do you have a recipe you can share?
I like giving stuff away too. We've got rid of so much via Facebook and ebay and l'm still going. Also five tip runs in and another booked. Shameful really - now l know why l had so much credit card debt. Still at least it's gone now. The loan is for a car so at least l got something useful from it..!
