Have a good relaxing half term x2
-
Hello!!
I'm back!
Thank you all for asking if I was ok - I've literally just seen your posts. I'm really grateful for your thoughts.
Work was bonkers for the last few weeks of the half term and I was spending literally 10 hours a day on a laptop and, to be honest, I just needed a break from the screen. But I'm glad to be back
So, a quick update on things ....
Moneywise things are going ok. I've paid off all the debt apart from the small loan that has 10 months left to run, this will get sorted over the next 6 months at the most. I want no debt at all when I resign and so that's an incentive to over pay it, which will be very doable now I'm not paying for anything else (credit cards, Next etc). I've also managed to save an additional £3000 since October. I didn't realise it was this much but when I looked over the statements yesterday I was chuffed to bits to see it was!
Work - its just relentless as usual, but I did get a letter in the post on the first day of half term from the boss (I genuinely thought it was my P45!) thanking me for everything and raving on about how much he values me..... Think he's having a funny turn, he used to give me such a hard time.... It's not changed my mind though, I'm still off at the end of the school year.
Family - mum, dad and sister have now all had the first dose of the vaccine. That's a big relief, although they're still really cautious about everything thankfully, I worry about Dad though, he's physically fine but his memory is getting quite patchy some days (I don't think it helps that he's quite deaf but refuses to wear a hearing aid and so misses lots of details and conversations and swears blind that he's never been told things). Mum is up and down as usual and takes some geeing up sometimes. But, my lovely sister (with cerebral palsy) is amazing - she zooms everyday with different groups of friends, does quizzes, plays bingo and has coffee mornings with them and has now even started doing disabled boxercise and pilates! She's fab! Nothing gets her down and she's barely been out of the house for a year.
House move - things are just on hold until May, I'll resign then and put the house on the market (finishing work at the end of July but being paid until September). Houses on my estate are still selling quickly and so, hopefully, it shouldn't be a problem getting it sold.
Lockdown - I'm officially bored stiff now....but I have started two online courses that will help with the dog business. I'll finish the first one today. Both are diplomas that are officially recognised as qualifications in the industry so it will help and I've learned quite a bit, some of it is really interesting. Other than that though, its really dull when I'm not working. I've met my friend a couple of times for a couple of dog walks but nothing much else to do. We're all in the same boat though I suppose.
Wellbeing - I have been running about 3 times a week to try to keep the flab at bay, not got any bigger but not any smaller either though.... Not a big surprise given the amount of boredom eating I'm doing!
I think that's about it for an update - I'll be back in a bit with a more usual post!
Thanks again for asking after me though4 -

Well done on getting the diploma done, great preparation for the future. I don’t know how you managed it. I had to do a course for work that involved a fair few hours of study on top of school stuff and I was ready to throw the lap top into the field next door by the time I’d finished!!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . I've literally just finished the first one and got 100% on the end of course exam - I'm a total swot! It was on Canine Communication and really quite interesting in parts. Even though I've owned dogs all my life there was definitely new learning involved
The other diploma on the go is on Pet Psychology - I've just started that one though....3 -
All jobs on the list done apart from the face mask and tan - these are evening jobs
Going to spend the evening making something nice for tea and watching a bit of telly. Need to start something new on Netflix so will have a browse in a bit.
Lots of school work to do tomorrow but I'm not thinking about that tonight.
One more day before the world goes mad again ......1 -
We've been watching Unforgotten on Netflix @mumblingtaff which we've really enjoyed. It's a bit like New Tricks which used to be on BBC years ago but is on Drama now, looking into old police cases.3

Morning all!
Up early today and it was broad daylight by 7.30 so we had an early visit to the park for a good run around after the ball to tire him out while I get on with some work. Back to school tomorrow and it's one of my days in school on the SLT rota. I do Mondays and Thursdays at the moment and work the rest at home - to be honest its easier days in school!
I've got quite a bit to do but I know what I'm doing with it all so, hopefully, its a morning's work rather than all day.
Had a bath and have dried my hair properly (rather than shoving it in a pony tail) and put a bit of make up on to remind myself what I should look like when seen in public before I have to do it for real tomorrow! The hair is in need of a good cut but at least its not grey anymore. Colour makes all the difference.
Ended up watching Behind Her Eyes on Netflix last night - its really quite good, a series of 6 episodes and I'm about half way through. Was surprised that its British rather than American - a nice change. Would recommend it - its one of those that you want to know what happens next so keeps you drawn in. Will try to watch the end this evening after all work, exercise and jobs are done.
Right, better crack on!1 -
Ooh, I watched all 6 episodes last night and really enjoyed it.MFW 2022 #71 £4400/£44002
