A tiny hole has appeared in our upstairs bathroom floor. What could have caused this and should i be concerned?

that is a chip in the grouting.  nothing to worry about.  you could fill it with grouting if you are bothered.
  • Oh gosh really? I thought the floor was vinyl!

    You tell us.

If it's ceramic tile then it's just a bit of a crack/hole in the grout which you can easily remedy. If they're vinyl tiles then something has caught the edge of the tile and pushed it in a bit, just try and level and glue it back or put a bit of clear silicone in the hole.

Looking at the faint joint lines it looks more like some sort of laminate to me.

in technical details - you kicked the granny out of that vinyl floor.  Chuck a bath mat over the hole to hide it. If  that's not good enough - try to get stanley knife under and stretch it back, then glue over it. If it won't go then clear silicone. You can get a very close match coloured one in floor trade shops too but they are north of £ 10 per tube and you only need a tiny bit , the rest will go dry and off date before you have chance to use it again.

is it vinyl tiles or is it laminate flooring, either way the cracks in the wall grouting is 100 times worse looking. Fill your little chip by rubbing a candle over it.

Certainly looks like laminate by the joint lines, Wickes used to do one very much like that.  I suspect that joint is moving and has caused a piece of the T&G to snap off.  Likely best fix would be to mix up some sawdust with PVA and paint to get the right colour and texture.

Yes those aren't great either and I don't know why that's suddenly happened.  Should I be worried or is it just one of those things?  Thanks

So you're not going to answer any of the questions as to what the flooring is made up of?
