This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning folks. It's lovely to see some light again in the early morning. And the rain has stopped too. Almost every road I drove on yesterday had places with huge lakes of water on them and the almost permanent one across from DM's place stretched the whole width of the road and down the junction. My tasks today are to change the bedding and collect an order for DM from Marks. It arrived into the store very late yesterday. I don't anticipate buying anything else but who knows! The joy yesterday was definitely in watching Strictly. 😀 I may just watch it again.Belated happy anniversary to NAN and Mr Fix-It. 💕
Happy Sunday to all.12 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Damp but sunny start to the day here, hopefully the sun will help dry up the laying water.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying a brekkie bar and my first cuppa. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Last night's Indian takeaway from the SM was lovely. We'll be having roast pork today with the extras. I'll get organised with the veg, then the packups for tomorrow so I can have a chilled afernoon.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Still raining. Yesterday afternoon was quite nice but the rain returned later.
My shelving arrived, excellent service and my visitors put it together, I also re-homed the old table to friends who will look after it so a good day all round. Lunch was delicious but the cherry pie was a bit well done!
I have nothing on today so am looking forward to a chilled day catching up with odd jobs if I can be bothered! It's nice to have a lighter start to the day but not looking forward to it being dark earlier. I've changed the clock in the kitchen, I think it's the only one to be done manually apart from the car, I'll fight with that some other time.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks for the start GERS. A lovely start here with blue sky and sunshine. Evidence of overnight rain though. The best time for it to fall! I'm with you on Strictly GERS, a bit of sunshine to brighten these dark times we are in.. Early days yet to have a favourite but I am loving the enthusiasm of Jaimie!
Sadly no-one tells the animals about the clocks changing, hence I had Sparkle trampling all over me at 5.00 a.m.!! I managed to ignore her until 6.00 but by then she was getting frantic for her breakfast!
So another day of same old same old but it will be broken at some point by my DF who is going to do a doorstep drop of some more books for me. Another friend texted me yesterday to tell me she was heartbroken as she had lost her beloved dog. She obviously doesn't feel up to talking about it yet so I just sent a supportive text back. Maybe in another few days she will feel up to a chat. My heart went out to her.
Lunch today is to be a gammon joint with a honey glaze and lots of veg. I'll do enough to have leftovers for tomorrow. I am hankering in particular for some cauli cheese as I love that with gammon.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care and stay safe x

Morning all.
The sun is out here too, but much evidence of torrential rain during the night. Am hoping that we may have enough dry spells to get outside at some point, but the forecast is not too hopeful.
Gers, I recorded Strictly last night so I have that joy to come. I rather like the new format.
Camelot, I differ from you about the dark evenings. I love drawing the curtains, switching lights on and settling down for the evening. I do a good cosy.
Had to laugh at Sparkle waking you up early TA. They do hate any changes to their routine, don't they? I feel for your friend who has lost her dog. I bet we have all been there. I must confess that I still hear my Millie's thumping feet making their way up stairs to wake me up.
Remarkable, as she has been gone a couple of years now and I have moved, so there are no stairs.
I'm off to what passes for church later this morning. It is very strange and I'm not sure that it is a good idea, but I like to be supportive so will brave the uncertain weather.
Not sure what I am eating today. I've taken something out of the freezer, but it was unlabelled (nothing new there) so whatever it is will be a surprise.
Whatever you are doing, or not doing, enjoy your Sunday.

Morning all tipping down here no results as yet and i can't chase till 5 days so that's tuesday getting a bit peed off now at being stuck indoors mum isn't coming today i had hoped i would have heard by yesterday and not had to have told her but hey ho .
We are using the time productively DH can't go into work until i get the all clear so we are decorating the main bedroom . I have booked for DH and I to go on holiday to Cuba in a couple of weeks as there is no quarantine on return swab tests on arrival and departure with results in 24hrs we have been before and the price was a very good deal when i booked the plane seats none of the middle row of 3 were taken and plenty of 2 s at the side were free so should be easy to stay away from others the girls are going to look after mum a week each so just over 3 weeks and i am off for some sun and sea its good to have something to look forward to .
Dinner today left overs from yesterdays take away . Have a good day whatever you are up too xx

Bright sunshine here atm but more rain due later it rained all day yesterday and all night, so we lit the fire mid afternoon, OH took the dog out and came back to find me on the sota with a blankie so he got on the other sofa and we both had a nana napwe woke up an hour or so later absolutly boiling as the fire was raging
we got confused with the log man and he only bought us a sample of some new logs he was trying and boy they were good !! we have now ordered a new load for next week.
Groundhod day today again, it will be a dog walk followed by roast dinner and a nap and a film later, I seem to be napping a lot at the moment.
Roast pork today with stuffing, roasties and lots of veg will do enough for tomorrow as well. The beds have been stripped and are in the wm, OH can remake them later.
Bella I hope your test comes back clear xx
Nan Happy Anniversary to you and Mr Fix it xx
Mona I do a very good cosy as well x13 -
Morning
lol monogran I love a freezer surprise but not when if turns out to be a pud when I wanted a meal. Hope it doesn't disappoint
TA and Gers loving Strictly too they have done so well to produce such a good show with all the restrictions. no favourite either yet but I prefer to watch the enthusiastic amateurs rather than the ones already there
Lovely sunny day today after a pretty awful one yesterday. Went to bed last night determined to make the most of the clocks going back and having a lie in then promptly woke up at 2 with no more sleep left in me
Todays plans are fairly loose I have a cupboard in the kitchen to declutter and create some more space then an afternoon of films I guess. For dinner I have a couple of slices of turkey out so will have a roast with my first sprouts of the year and a monster yorkshire pud
Have a lovely day all13 -
Morning all! If the clocks hadn't gone back I would have been up stupid early. As it is, it just seems normal time now...I made my box on legs yesterday, gave it a good polish with some wax so even though it's still has a very definite 'patina' it is shiny and smells lovely. OH still not convinced but after the effort I've made to get rid of things, I think he's indulging me....I think it also helps I promised him a roast pork dinner so I took the pork out last night and we'll have it with roasties, roast carrots, roast parsnips and sprouts. Also yorkies because you can never have enough of those.Maybe some stuffing too. This list is getting unfeasibly long..I haven't made a proper Sunday dinner for a while. And we have lots of cake for afters....I am currently sititng here worried about the boiler which is making weirder sounds than normal and mentally factoring in the cost of a new one...I'd better get a move on ordering some wood. Not much doing today, maybe a bit more declutter, maybe a lot of sitting on the sofa, maybe a room moving aorund. All depends really how I feel when I feel properly awake and raring to go...which will be next Tuesday probably. The usn is shininh though so that helps.Right, away with me, stay sane and safe you lovelylot, super Sunday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13

Morning all,Feel like I didnt sleep that well
and was reading from 5, but at least it was the new 5
. Pooch also didnt recognise the change of clocks and I ended up going down after my shower to feed her, then we took her out & got drenched in the process.
RR we lit our fire yesterday afternoon too, but then I had to put the oven on and it got a bit too warmWe're having a turkey joint and some gammon with all the trimmings tonight. When I defrosted the chest freezer earlier in the week I found some X mas pudding, which would have made it almost a rehearsal for CDay but we ate it midweek- very nice tooOur fave sticky toffee pud tonight.
Have a good day all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)12
