PlusNet Super Fibre - No Way Back

I upgraded from standard to super fast fibre with PlusNet, just to see if it materially improved online streaming, particularly for live sport. I couldn't really discern any great benefit so I tried to revert back to the cheaper fibre option deal only to be informed by PlusNet that they do not allow such reversals. Not even when negotiating a new contract. I would have to quit and find another ISP to resume standard fibre. If this condition is within their T&C's, I couldn't fid it. I could understand their position mid-contract but not when that contract is coming to its conclusion and you're looking for a new deal.

You could try a different provider, there are a lot out there but be aware that some cabinets are getting quite full and some people are on waiting list o you may not be able to remain on fibre if there are no ports vacant.
Since the covid situation reared it ugly head there are a lot more people using the internet and relinquishing a connection might make it a lot more difficult to get reconnected if there aren't any ports available to your supplier. You may get downgraded to ADSL, have a look to see what other suppliers are offering in your area.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

I suppose I'd assumed that, when an FTTC subscriber changes ISPs, Openreach just forwards the bill for the subscriber's use of its infrastructure to the subscriber's new ISP instead of to the old ISP.0 -
All FTTC ports are available to all ISP’s, there is no sort of a set ‘allocation’ of ports to particular telcos, if a cabinet is ‘waiting list’ , and you move providers, it’s possible that you could lose your existing port, back luck for you, but lucky for someone ‘waiting’ , and you become the ‘waiter’ , ( until another port becomes available)
obviously there is a certain amount of ‘churn’, ( home movers, people going mobile only, death etc ) and cabs that are ‘waiting list’ , may get more ports added by Openreach, so it could be temporary delay, but if I were looking to switch, I would be careful if the cab was showing ‘waiting list’ as the order may be accepted by the ‘new’ provider, and it’s only after the new service doesn’t kick in, that they say you will have to wait, in these circumstances quite often they will provide exchange based ADSL in the interim

How can you tel if the cabinet you are on has a waiting list?0

If you want standard fibre, and Plusnet don't want to give you what you want in exchange for your money, then I'm sure a comparison site of your choice will help you find someone who'll give you what you want. I at least have found that moving ISP every two contracts seems to be required to stay on the best deal.0
