As it’s it’s your first car , are you buying an Audi because of the badge? You could get the same car Seat/ Skoda/ Vw for less and better specced. Wife loves her Leon and son loves his Ibiza.
I am old though and remember the days when your first car was a few hundred quid , nowadays youngsters seem to want the latest everything, including cars, regardless of cost.

Automatic lights should be removed from every single vehicle imo.
Countless times I come across cars at dusk/dawn quite happily driving at 70 on the motorway with just daylight running lights on - so flipping dangerous

At least they have some lights on, even if only on one end.ToxicWomble said:Automatic lights should be removed from every single vehicle imo.

On the contrary, autolights should be mandatory on everything with DRLs - to prevent the numpties driving along at night on just DRLs, with no lights at all on the back. "What's the problem? I can see..."1 -
One problem with automatic lights is remembering to turn them on manually when it's foggy and then back to auto when the fog lifts.0

My rant overAgree for a slightly different reason.Their auto lights have been turned off, or they would definitely come on at dusk/dawn, mine come on in bright sunshine if a high flying condor passes over the sun. This is annoying, as the massively huge & intrusive "infotainment" screen twangs into night mode, as well as reducing bulb life with all the flashing on & off.Once switched off, they obviously don't come on, but as my dashboard looks like Neon Tokyo all the time (for no reason I can figure out other than it can), and the DRLs are so bright I never notice when it is dark that the lights are still off until I go somewhere with no streetlights. In The Olden Days I'd have put the lights on as soon as I couldn't read the instruments easily, so now I get to join the statistics of drivers with no lights at the back. The obvious (and therefore won't ever happen) solution is to have the tail lamps on with the DRLs...
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

They weren't saying you were in poverty. The base model of any car is normally called the 'poverty spec' as it is the most basic specification. Personally you could have bought a much higher spec VW Polo for the same money and perhaps got it newer too. On Autotrader there is GT spec for about the same as you have paid. More miles but not high miles. Low mileage isn't necessarily as good a thing as the salesmen suggest it is. 31k mileage over 3 years is pretty good.Elkafunds said:No not at all ! I always knew i wanted the car but hadn't test drove it so was worried that I may not feel comfortable in it! Also im a nurse which isnt a bad job im also by no means in poverty! So need for the nasty comments thank you.0 -
A high spec three year old car might.Elkafunds said:Hi Im buying the Audi A1 sportsback I noticed the exterior lights dont have the auto option on the dial and when the lights are on and you turn the enigine off you have to manually turn the dial to off. I would have thought that a 3 yr old car would have automatic!

They have the tail lamps on with DRL's in Scandinavia. I used an ODB2 and Crista software and turned the tail lights so they were on all the time on an Audi A4 as there was a setting to do thisfacade said:ToxicWomble said:Automatic lights should be removed from every single vehicle imo.

Done the same on my A6, OBD11 is fantastic for mods like this.Jack_Cork said:

Errrrr how would you know such cars have automatic headlights? ie maybe they have manual switch headlights and the driver has simply forgotten to switch on the headlights early enough? On the other hand on my A6, the automatic headlights have a setting of early, medium or late. I always use 'medium' (factory default setting) which i find ok, but if lights on other cars with automatic headlights aren't coming on early enough then the sensor setting could be deliberately set to 'late' or equivalent on non-VAG cars. Hardly the fault of the car....ToxicWomble said:Automatic lights should be removed from every single vehicle imo.
