Argos returns policy - 'unopened and unused'

Argos need to test it to see if it's faulty. If it's faulty, they have to refund you (if you've only just bought them) and can't hide behind the health and safety angle.0

Isn't the health and safety issue a red herring though? I thought that to refuse a "change of mind" on health grounds the goods had to be hygienically sealed or something. Is that likely to be the case here? (It's nearly 20 years since we bought a set of scales and I doubt those were "sealed"). And anyway, isn't that a bit like refusing to accept the return of shoes on H&S grounds? As regards them being faulty, I'd want to know how much variance the OP is finding and I'd want to be sure that the OP is using them properly. I wouldn't expect any variance in a set of digital scales but it's arguable that some variance might be considered ok. (We use kg and I'd be concerned if our scales showed a variance as high as 0.2kg - less than half a lb? - on immediately consecutive weighings).0

There was a little over 3lbs variance in 3 separate weighings of me in less than a minute stood perfectly still in exactly the same place each time.Anyway I've taken them back and demanded a refund and got one so end of, but I won't be buying from Argos again now I know their policy
