Do any of you have a bluetooth OBD2 reader?

Looking for one that works to save me firing up the laptop which takes forever and a day to boot.
I got one of these and it works perfectly fine using the Forscan software.
I then bought one of these bluetooth units and it came through tonight and doesn't work at all. I'm on Android and have used
Car Scanner
FordSys Free
Garage Pro (not sure why it's pro as i've only tried out free apps)
OBD Arny
Torque (Lite)
Nothing connects to the car. All i really want to do is scan fault codes. Any readouts will just be bonus but i imagine they'll be a paid feature.
I know this is on the dirt cheap and that it'll just be a clone which is possibly why it doesn't work, even though my first link will also be a clone and does work.
So if anyone reading this has a bluetooth unit, what did you buy and what app do you use?

So maybe it's specific to the Renault Zoe and the CanZE app I use to monitor the cars traction battery stats, but with mine you can only use the BT option on Android and have to use WiFi with iOS. Maybe that's a thing with these too?
I use the Konnwei KW902.0 -
I've got the same cheap Bluetooth one and use it with Torque on Android, I also have the WiFi equivalent one and use it with Car Scanner on my iPhone.
They've worked fine on a variety of cars I've tried them on except an 09 reg Corsa for some reason. I suspect it was an issue with the car.0 -
Torque app for quick data. Forscan for more detailed stuff.
Did you download the software the seller suggested? Although it says suitable for MINI so
maybe not Ford compliant. Different manufacturers use different protocols.

I use torque pro with a simple bluetooth reader from ebay, works fine, gives live data too, torque lite doesnt work that great, I paid for pro over a year ago and works great and has more features enabled in the app0

Torque Pro app. too. Once purchased in Playstore may be transferred to a new phone, if necessary. Not expensive and use it in conjunction with a cheap Bluetooth "ELM327" plug in from Amazon.Good enough for my needs. The one I have is very much like your non working one in the link.0

Different levels of compatibility of elm327, I ended up using an vgate one, a bit more expensive than the generic ones, but reads DPF etc as well providing the software and car support it

Yeah I watched a YouTube video by the Mondeo guy with a send you to sleep voice and his was a Vgate. I was basically just trying to be a cheapskate as they were at £12ish whereas these were £5ish.
My theory was they should all read from an OBD2 port so why pay more when you don't have to.
It connects to Bluetooth fine, or at least it did yesterday but it didn't this morning. It doesn't talk to the car though.0 -
Yes they plug into the OBD port but they dont all use the same protocols.

Nothing wrong with the cheap ones, I have a cheapo blue one which is bigger than the one pictured but
it was purchased years ago for less than £5. Works a treat because it uses Ford protocols. Just buy the
identical one that says for Ford.

I use Proscan Automotive ELM 327 bluetooth, cost a tenner, and Carista. Carista is good to change the defaults and make a few personal tweaks, if it supports your car. I've also used Torgue pro as well0

I'm using the OBDeleven bluetooth dongle and app on my smartphone to read & modify stuff on my Audi A6. Works like a charm. I suppose its really a question of you get what you pay for....
