Payday yesterday!
Last month was obviously a bit of a disaster on all fronts, so I'm hoping this month is a bit better. I don't need to put anything into nursery TFC account as I've put in 1k for the past 3 months, so I've paid in all that is 'matched' until it resets.
Unfortunately we do have house insurance and my car insurance due which will be absorbed by some of it. House is usually £100ish (I know that seems cheap, I don't know why it's so low as levels of cover are fine), and my car insurance is £300ish (was a bit under £200 at one point but the massive inflation on car insurance made it a lot higher). I do both through topcashback which will usually eventually get me about £50 or so of that back. I've made nearly 3.5k from it (granted I've had it for years), but I do all insurances etc through it and it does add up!
I've recently started using sprive too for mortgage overpayments. Granted it's not a huge amount and I could probably get more elsewhere, but for ease it's worth it for me. I've OP'd £53 using is so far. It's largely on food shopping etc so I'm sure it will add up over the course of the year!
DS2 operation has been cancelled due to strikes so I suppose at least he won't be in plaster over Christmas.
I'm going to do my best to be extra good this month. I'm basically done with xmas shopping now, and all of the birthdays up to Feb (6!). Everything is wrapped and I can be a bit calmer.
Most of the bills have gone bar mortgage on the 15th which is £1165. We've got a bit over 3k left for anything else. I need to do the main Christmas shop. I will get some nice bits, but I don't need to go mad. 3 of us 4 don't eat meat so it's pretty cheap tbh! I already have beef in the freezer (DH always has beef as not keen on turkey), and a nice bottle of wine for each of us. We both get a £30 voucher from work which we can choose what to use on so we use it towards Christmas shop.
It won't be long until we can look at remortgaging (beginning of Feb). My plan is to port when we move. We're on 4.9% at the moment so I think we can probably get slightly lower. Finally bought a homeStarting mortgage £289,500 31.01.19 - Current outstanding £189,116.67Overpayments since 27.03.19: £53,969.12Moving fund so far £3000 - Premium bonds £9,500Food spend £124.81/£30002 -
Bit of a result. Got my car insurance renewal this morning and it's only £205. Apparently it was £237 last year so I'm wondering if it was DH's that was £300 😅. I'll still check as I might be able to get similar price plus cashback, but I'm happy with that. Also didn't spend on anything unnecessary yesterday 🥳.Finally bought a homeStarting mortgage £289,500 31.01.19 - Current outstanding £189,116.67Overpayments since 27.03.19: £53,969.12Moving fund so far £3000 - Premium bonds £9,500Food spend £124.81/£30003

Home insurance paid for. £119 + £36 cashback. Apparently it was £129 last year so memory clearly failing me again 🫠. Anyway, down slightly so I'm happy. Can't complain at just over £80 overall. Will sort car insurance in a few days as I think that's supposed to be cheapest date 🤞🏻

Car insurance done too. Was £227, but that's because I do it through topcashback using go compare (£38 cashback) as the £250 free excess cover is worth having worst case. I've also paid £12 to protect no claims which I didn't have before as I have over 20 years now so it's probably worth it for so little, and I paid for the slightly more expensive policy as there is no admin fee for changes (in the unlikely event we move before the policy ends).
Both I and DH have a cold. Brilliant timing 🙈. At least I'm not working tomorrow. Hopefully will be a bit better by the big day...Finally bought a homeStarting mortgage £289,500 31.01.19 - Current outstanding £189,116.67Overpayments since 27.03.19: £53,969.12Moving fund so far £3000 - Premium bonds £9,500Food spend £124.81/£30004 -
